If trading taught me anything is that my critical thinking works best when I swing that that big high powered spotlight around and put it on myself. Trading forums always have those making wild claims - and no shortage of naive traders that lack any level of critical thinking ... and gamblers believe their own lies ... what else is new? It's a bit amusing, but I can think of better things to do with my time than to investigate, police and berate them. “During the 10 years I traded for George Soros, I never heard him speak about a winning trade. To hear him talk, you’d think he had nothing but losers. Conversely, listening to the biggest losers, you’d think they had nothing but winners.” Victor Niederhoffer "Why don't you turn that high-powered perception at yourself and tell us what you see, or, maybe you're afraid to" Clarice to Dr. Lecter, Silence of the Lambs
It gives the poster some credibility. When someone posts at the end of the day that they bought an sold something and made a pocket full of dollars although possible I don't find it probable. If you post a trade entry in real time, and later post the exit it is more probable that you might have been in the trade. There is very little discussion in a real time journal. The trades are there to review and not much room for argument. I did one a few year back to keep myself disciplined but closed it down when there was no discussion.
Isolate the trades from my potty mouth. You don't trade vol? Don't read it. I post mids and usually my fill price. I've posted persistent arbs to this site. Posted and traded by people here (Trinitas & Oanda). I posted my letter sent to Barron's and BRK when Buffett refused to MTM his $8.1B loss on the short-put fiasco. Yes, that forced him (or something did) to mark the loss, to the penny, I might add. Send me a PM if you want a copy. I get that people are upset that I was a bit rough with someone whom is fragile. I didn't know that she was fragile and I certainly could have approached it (much) better, but FX volume is tits on a bull. I didn't cheer her leaving and I hope she comes back. I had long since been blocked. I've been off this site for over a year. It is not my intention to "take-down" popular posters on this site. I have no problem limiting my posts to my journal and vol-related threads. For all I know I may tire of it and take off never to return. Who knows. So in closing: Xela, wherever you are, I am sorry.
Xela has made thousands of long-winded posts, utterly content free. Handle123 has severe mental health issues and his posts, also long, range from nonsensical to misleading. Schwiez is merely a troll. None of the three ever contributed positively to ET. They will not be missed. The only benefit to posters like Xela and Handle123 is that if you see new members liking their posts, or worse, citing them as knowledgeable traders, you know to write-off those new members as unteachable and lacking the ability to distinguish between real and fantasy. Also, adult retail MT4 FX/cfd trader --> institutional PM has never ever happened, not even once. And we all know the IRL identities of posters like Destriero, Mav, SS, and even Bone -- we can check their work histories and bona fides. WTF is Xela?
For the love of God please don't. There is so much nonsense on this board. If the razors leave, the fat will consume the whole thing.
I find it ironic that the traders with unquestionably the best CVs (I am not including myself) have poor post/like ratios. You know who you are. However, most are old-timers before the likes was enabled.
Average life can be less than courteous and harsh. We are aware of boundaries at work for example. Venture into an area where business beyond your scope, abilities and defined status is being conducted and we'll.....you know better not to do that. Simalarly, at your place of work, you will not set up a desk in a hallway closet, put on a suit, hang a sign on the closet door "Director of Big Things" and pretend you are conducting business in the closet. They would call your wife to come get you. On ET we CAN do this, more, and then feign outrage and demand respect. Dont you see this? If this post rubs you the wrong way let me say I stand guilty as charged as well. Not everyone can do this!
She has said that herself, several times. Some people hear only what they want to hear. She doesn't trade FX and has said so repeatedly (I think she trades CL?). It's true that she trades from constant-volume charts and she's already explained why in many threads, doubtless not knowing that it's a felony in your opinion! I doubt it. The message she left on her profile suggests she's angry with Baron, since he could so easily have resolved the issue but flatly refused to. So why would she? That's why it was crazy for Baron, also knowing that, to try to claim that her blocking you would be a solution (to one of the obviously frequent problems that his refusal to moderate the forum had caused). You do actually give exactly the opposite impression, the way you attack people and defame them, and it's increasingly obvious (even to you, now, I'm sure) that your behaviour appalls many members, damages the forum and drives people away. I'm sorry if that comes across as pretty harsh, believe it or not I'm actually just trying to be honest, not to cause further offence.
