Can anyone point me to a place / room where people actively trade?

  1. Trading from home as a retail trader is a lonely pursuit and while I recognize the desire for connection with others I think the sooner you accept this, the better. I'm thinking that trading with others would only be valuable if you had the exact same methodology.

Many years ago I was hanging out in a free chat room hosted by a guy which I at the time believed to be successful. I remember discarding my own method on multiple occasions as his analysis went against it, but more than once it turned out I would have been better off following my own method.

If you want success as a day trader you need your own method/analysis which you fully trust and which you can act on very quickly. Adding other people into the mix is just a distraction.

A chat room / message board is probably better for getting new information / ideas when the market is closed or you're done for the day. And maybe it's better for swing traders and the like.

  2. Appreciate it, but I don't need new idea's or information. I understand what I am doing and there is a reason I am looking to work with someone else. Not doing it because I am lonely... seems like a lot of people keep projecting what they want or how they feel on me. This post was made with a purpose and for a reason.

  4. Because what I believe and my experience is the exact opposite of most other people in this thread. If the reason isn't clear than you're so far away from what I am posting about that we're not even in the same universe regarding this or you simply don't believe what I believe in.

Either of those are fine.... I am truly not looking to debate this with people. This isn't that difficult. I explained I am an extremely extremely active day trader who trades all day and am looking for someone to work with, because my experience's in working via voice communication the positive have far outweighed the negatives.

Again my head doesn't go into a tail spin because I am on voice, but it seems that is not the case with most other people it distracts them too much and that is fair. To each his own. I have no issues with that and completely understand.

  6. Is the strategy dead at this point? If so, mind sharing?

If you are an experienced trader who knows what you're doing, that means you learned what you know through experience and plenty of outside resources, and each of those resources came from other people, whether it was a book you read, software you used, a website you visited, etc.

Honestly, it sounds like to me that it may be time to do the opposite in your life, which is to actually be a resource for other people who are less knowledgable and less experienced than you. For example, you could easily start a Journal here where you talk about your methods, post trades you make, answer questions from others, go over how you manage risk, etc. I'm not saying you've got to give away every single thing you know, but I'm sure there would be no lack of interested parties that would love to take whatever amount of knowledge you share and apply it to their own trading.

You'll accomplish two main things when you do that. The first is that it will give you some credibility. You're brand new here so giving others some indication that you actually know what you're talking about will go a long way in helping you find the small real-time chat group you are looking for. I can assure you that you're not the only experienced trader here, so if other experienced guys see that you're credible, they'll be reaching out to you directly to be a part of your group.

And the second thing is that you'll have a sense of personal satisfaction that you're helping other people especially when you hear feedback from them that the info you shared made a difference in their lives, and there's not a person alive who doesn't want to be appreciated for what they do.

So I think you should consider planting some seeds in the lives of others and then see in what ways your efforts come back to benefit you. One thing I can promise you is that if you provide real value to other people, the universe ensures that it all comes back around to you in one way or another.

    Just food for thought.

  9. Thank you, very valid point and good advice. I will consider that. Actually though about doing that and hearing you type it out, makes even more sense.
