The secret of succesful traders

Discussion in 'Psychology' started by Trading Education Buyer, Dec 1, 2016.

  1. Find something that makes money- if you baked bread and 5 days a week you sold it for $1 when it cost you $2 to make, you would not have a business. Same thing with trading -most people are delusional and think the fault is with them. The entire industry is a pile of crap and the millions of leeches ONLY make money because dumb people pour more money in every month. People like being robbed. I like to trade something that wins all the time.

successful traders have an edge. most will not tell you their edge i will completely disclose mine to you. you are my edge all you people and how you think and react, i have been studying your habits for many years and quantifying your decisions. i know what you will do and when you will do it, well in advance of you even deciding what you will do. i have a memory, history and neutrality to not interfere other than to continue to take your money. it's not easy being me but someone has to be at the top of the ladder it might as well be me.

finally i have given up trying to help the sheep, i now practice conservation of your slaughter.

have a nice day - mark

Lol, I'm sure you're the master of your own domain.

Wow it's amazing the number of people here who know everything.

Thank you for disclosing your strategy. If I understand correctly you only slaughter the (weak) sheep who stray too near to the boundary of a 21 period linear regression channel?

Length selected based on options expiration rather than the traditionally favored length=20?

  7. The enemy within you will have reactive trades , revenge trades and self sabotage.

    https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sour...ie=UTF-8#q=causes+of+self+sabotaging+behavior

The same principles apply to trading

    http://www.purposefairy.com/67319/the-5-root-causes-of-self-sabotage-and-how-to-untangle-them/

Revege trades are done by subconcious mind and emotional stress responses.
Here is the psychology of revenge trading , same principles apply in trading , it is normal human emotion. There are many traders who put on revenge trades , after a string of losses , or simple frustrations at market behaviour.

    Prescott punches a protester
Labour's carefully stage-managed election campaign was in disarray last night after John Prescott, the Deputy Prime Minister, punched an egg-throwing protester.

Trading is a mental sport with strong reactive traders.

    Emotions cause self sabotage

  8. Succesful traders practice the art of trading war

    https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/sun-tzu-art-of-trading-war-the-edge.304608/

“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.”A strategy requires the market to give you an edge trade , you will sit patiently for an edge trade.

“Supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.”
A strategy requires the market to give you an edge trade , you will sit patiently for an edge trade.

“Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win”a great trading plan of professional quality will ensure victory before you trade.

  9. I think Mark Brown's post has a good deal of insight. It identifies the competitive dynamic. I think for most the prey is large institutional money that pushes markets around getting in/out of positions, or hedgers, etc, not other retail traders - yet, quite frankly I think it is a far more productive mindset than most stuff I see. That flight-fight instinct and worrying about it suggests one is behaving as the prey animal, not the predator - big difference.

I agree with the mindset, it was just an arrogant post.
