  1. LOL. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE BIBLE INSTRUCTING PEOPLE TO PRAY TO DEAD PEOPLE. I will restate this in plainer terms. There is nothing in the Bible that would lead us to believe that dead people are omniscient (all-knowing) as God is, or omnipresent (everywhere) as God is and even capable of listening to people's prayers. There is nothing in the Bible that teaches that dead people can read other's minds, yet God can, and Jesus did while on earth. There is nothing in the Bible that tells us to ask (which is the meaning of prayer) dead people to ask God for things on our behalf.

Nothing at all. Sure, there are lots of passages that are showing the importance of God listening to prayers, so we ask LIVING on earth people to please pray about some things.

So, what are dead on earth but alive in heaven people doing in heaven? We aren't told exactly, but there was a time when King Saul (wickedly) consulted a witch to bring up the prophet Samuel and God actually allowed Samuel's sprit to come back and talk to King Saul.

Samuel's first words were, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?” So, he whatever he was doing, he was bothered that he had to come back and listen to someone talk to him. :)

Also, Paul writes that for a believer to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord which is far better than remaining on earth. He says nothing at all about interceding for others in heaven. In fact, one place, when speaking of saints that die during the Tribulation period yet to come, says "Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.’ ” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” Rev. 14:13 This would seem to show that anything done for Christ's kingdom by serving or praying, or whatever, is done in this life and then the results (people's salvation??) continue for an eternity. But their labor STOPS after we physically die and enter into heaven.

3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in his own town of Ramah. Saul had expelled the mediums and spiritists from the land.

4 The Philistines assembled and came and set up camp at Shunem, while Saul gathered all Israel and set up camp at Gilboa. 5 When Saul saw the Philistine army, he was afraid; terror filled his heart. 6 He inquired of the Lord, but the Lord did not answer him by dreams or Urim or prophets. 7 Saul then said to his attendants, “Find me a woman who is a medium, so I may go and inquire of her.”

“There is one in Endor,” they said.

8 So Saul disguised himself, putting on other clothes, and at night he and two men went to the woman. “Consult a spirit for me,” he said, “and bring up for me the one I name.”

9 But the woman said to him, “Surely you know what Saul has done. He has cut off the mediums and spiritists from the land. Why have you set a trap for my life to bring about my death?”

10 Saul swore to her by the Lord, “As surely as the Lord lives, you will not be punished for this.”

11 Then the woman asked, “Whom shall I bring up for you?”

    “Bring up Samuel,” he said.

12 When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out at the top of her voice and said to Saul, “Why have you deceived me? You are Saul!”

13 The king said to her, “Don’t be afraid. What do you see?”

The woman said, “I see a ghostly figure coming up out of the earth.”

14 “What does he look like?” he asked.

“An old man wearing a robe is coming up,” she said.

Then Saul knew it was Samuel, and he bowed down and prostrated himself with his face to the ground.

15 Samuel said to Saul, “Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?”

“I am in great distress,” Saul said. “The Philistines are fighting against me, and God has departed from me. He no longer answers me, either by prophets or by dreams. So I have called on you to tell me what to do.”

16 Samuel said, “Why do you consult me, now that the Lord has departed from you and become your enemy? 17 The Lord has done what he predicted through me. The Lord has torn the kingdom out of your hands and given it to one of your neighbors—to David. 18 Because you did not obey the Lord or carry out his fierce wrath against the Amalekites, the Lord has done this to you today. 19 The Lord will deliver both Israel and you into the hands of the Philistines, and tomorrow you and your sons will be with me. The Lord will also give the army of Israel into the hands of the Philistines.”

20 Immediately Saul fell full length on the ground, filled with fear because of Samuel’s words. His strength was gone, for he had eaten nothing all that day and all that night.

21 When the woman came to Saul and saw that he was greatly shaken, she said, “Look, your servant has obeyed you. I took my life in my hands and did what you told me to do. 22 Now please listen to your servant and let me give you some food so you may eat and have the strength to go on your way.”

23 He refused and said, “I will not eat.”

But his men joined the woman in urging him, and he listened to them. He got up from the ground and sat on the couch.

24 The woman had a fattened calf at the house, which she butchered at once. She took some flour, kneaded it and baked bread without yeast. 25 Then she set it before Saul and his men, and they ate. That same night they got up and left.

  3. You are temporarily blocked. You haven't entered into legitimate debate with me. You are just spouting off what your emotions are telling you, not presenting evidence. I have shown you evidence that you are ignoring.

@themickey, I am not mad at you, just mad that you are trolling me to spout blasphemies. I still pray for you to come to know God's love for you and to see that we do not deserve God's kindness shown to us by providing a way for reconciliation with Himself.

Not sure what blocking you will do, since it won't keep you from posting. But I am asking you to please not post blasphemies or mockeries of God, the Bible or Christianity on my threads anymore.

I don't even know what you are talking about. I show you evidence that God revealed Himself and you come up with "original thoughts" only....your own imaginations!!!

I'm not digging a hole for myself. You are in quicksand and I am on a sure foundation. Be careful.....when the storm comes, your house will fall away!!

Jesus' warning that not listening to His words and doing them is like building a house on the sand kind of reminds me of the story of the 3 little pigs. I guess for no other reason than that their houses came falling down!! :D

  6. "Now me teaching you something about the Bible makes me think the End Times are really near!:D"

Just want to say that although I don't agree with the interpretation of the Bible verses that have led to the "Hail Mary" I do appreciate that you posted something that quoted from the Bible to support the position.

And it actually was new to me, since I do not pray the Hail Mary.

Thanks for posting that. Sometimes I overreact when I see something I completely disagree with and just want to spout off about the issue. I should be a little more considerate of other's beliefs that I disagree with. After all, I'm asking for that from @themickey.

How often do we need to listen to christian control freak scare mongering rubbish.

You're obviously a baby, freaking out about everything.
Go live your life controlled by 'the bible'.

No one is immune to disaster, your house is just a likely to crumble as mine.
Pray all you like, when shit hits the fan will see you on your knees, while a logical person will be thinking it through for themselves, not waiting and wasting time praying for magic jesus to save them.
