Your plan for progress is inspirational, and to newcomers, your material and links could be very helpful in order to get some footing on MADA as well. What would help someone new to this kind of analysis, what steps, these q's I think is beneficial to ask oneself. The material will make more and more sense the more one works and uses the various bits and pieces, considers possibilities and try to understand what is meant behind the words. I find Jack's texts to be most clear on this (ironically despite all the trolls), which is why those posts are referred to again and again. Though one thing is not talked too much about, maybe it can be searched for in the texts though, how to actually trade it. The systems are made with trading in mind, so need to keep in mind how bars build during intrabar and how form and events may change over time, what lockin may mean for execution, etc. It's supposed to be practical while "in the heat of the moment", which is what happens during real trading, but a system built in a way to preserve peace of mind, keep clarity of context and necessary action and inaction.
For me it was more accessible by filling out the VTP and log in passes or strokes. By getting accustomed to logging the OOE of volume, doing degapping, repeat, retro, etc,.. and identifying EE’s as a practice, confidence gets built log after log. Then by address by components, one builds atop of skill. At some point it just feels right to progress by ‘adding on’ such as using the Mondrian table, Turns and Move Reversal table. Imho, doing the turns with the logic of D-D, D-nD, nD- D is a valid and useful practice. When one integrates the Mondrian table, that in itself has it’s own logic that overlays atop this fundamental pattern but the outputs of the Mondrian Table at times do not align to the D-D, D-nD, nD-D of turns without having a deeper insight into why that is so. That is what brings the Move Reversal table into being. One of the things that supported me was to imagine I was in Jack’s shoe’s figuring this out for the first time from an observational pov. What would be the simple tools necessary to build a more complex tool? What would be necessary to expand my sensory awareness? How can I increase my perception of the truth in front of me? The market is constantly speaking, we have only to listen.
I clearly get what you mean here. But I'm sure at the moment you're talking about, at the step of the path you were on, you had an acquired knowledge foundation for VTP and log in the whole, nicely superior than the one I currently have. I don't see any way of remedying this other than going back to read the material in where all resides. Don't you think so ? i'm absolutely not saying at all that I want to retake my chart and try to fill the log once I know everything. That was my old mindset. My current mindset is : go back with the new eye to read everything decisive about it, and once you have one millimeter understood at 100%, go back to the chart and start from this. It will maybe happen to me just after reading 30 out of the 400 pages I have, and this would not be a surprise. The thing is that I can't start whithout anything known with absolute certitude. I never felt strongerly and deeply inside what you say here, than when I was building my Great Matrix. It's like...discovering and building the market in totality. I think by rereading correctly and with what i am now, all the material provided by Jack in the three threds I mentionned, I'll feel what we talk about here (which is finally, "walk into Jack's footsteps", it will happen to me the same way it happened to you, but I need first to have a better foundation of knowledge as for VTP. I see my knowledge for this is really fuzzy and wobbly. And this is surely why, after all I've done, I'm still unable to fill any VTP column with confidence and certainty.
What follows must be taken in a certain context : I am waiting for my printed docs for then read them and do VTP and log. I can't wait to do that, but my life does not let me do so right now. So, all the following is done for only one reason : I have to be patient 2 days until I can do what is currently the necessary. I repeat it : my absolute priority is to do VTP and log. Meanwhile, let's make forced delayed time my best ally While reviewing my matrixs, I did notice something important. I had already mentionned that I had noticed after the fact that I had arbitrary assigned sentiments to the first two bars of the PC combos, which each creates one cell of the global matrix. Now I notice this was not only sentiment, it was also an O/C position that was fixed to let the case desired appear on bar 3. The case was with some parameters. Parameters come from informations. So, if I want, parallely to my central VTP and log focus and priority, to build the Great Matrix, I must ask to myself : - what are all the parameters that can appear on 2PCs combo ? in other words, what informations are available, that could lead to a result or another ? It turns out I see now : - there is a price case followed by another one - each bar has a certain number of legs - each leg of each bar has a certain length compared to the other one(s) if they exist. - each open and close has a position on each of the three bars - each price case has a volume move, and so each 2PCs combo has a Volume triad. - each price case defines a slope as for its RTL(s), and then the PC following affects this RTL - each bar has a sentiment - each 3rd bar can reverse or not the prior BM established - each 3d bar can either BO,T1 or not prior RTL established. What I call the Great Matrix, is the one where each scenario appears, each with all the parameters fixed on each and every possibility they can be fixed on. So to summarize, what are the parameters ? - a price case combo - a number of legs sequence - a length of legs sequence (which is the longest leg o the bar) - an O/C ubication - a volume triad - a slope of RTL - a sentiment sequence - an impact on BM - a possible BO,T1 So, let's begin each preliminary Matrixs. I already have some of them. And since early in the morning, here is what I got : - the PC combo Matrix has 100 cases : from 11 to 1010 - the number of legs sequence : each bar can either have 1, 2 or 3 legs. And at each bar, the longest leg can either be the 1st, the 2nd or the 3rd one. So the possibilities are : NB : l13 is for "either 1st or 3rd leg" is the longest, and each is in opposite sentiment compared to leg 2 which is the dominant one in terms of sent. It gives the sent. - the open close ubication : this is for the 3rd bar essentially, and see if it's inside prior RTL (and so we have BO,T1), between it and BM fixed on bar 1, or beyond BM and we have BM, rev. - the volume triads : There are 2 possible moves for 2 volume bars : INC or DEC. When considering 3 volume bars, we get 4 possibilities, with 2 extra ones that need to be explored. So there is INC, DEC, PEAK, TROUGH. The 2 extra are : 1st peak = the 3rd volume bar is above the 1st one, and we deduce what is Peak 2; and TROUGH 1 is when the 3rd volume bar is above the 1st one and we deduce again what is TROUGH 2. So we have : INC, DEC, PEAK 1, PEAK 2, TROUGH 1, TROUGH 2. - slope of RTL : It can either be Accelerated, Fanned or Reversed. - the sentiment sequence : a bar can either have 3 sentiments : a neutral one, a short one, a long one. When a bar does not have sentiment, which I call neutral, we have close = open and have a Doji bar. So if we call long sent L, short sent S and doji bar sentiment D, we come to : - the impact on BM : 2 possibilities, it can be reversed or not. - the BO,T1 : it can either appear, or not so 2 possibilities. So we have : Now, I see that I have to do every combo with all possibilities of each parameter. Of course, an immense part of the thing is impossible just because when you fix a parameter, whichever it is, it makes another one impossible to be fixed on "this or this possibility". And this is quite extraordinary to me to feel when "If I fix this, then that is impossible". Example : if I have the 11 price case which is in my matrix the XB/XB case, the slope of the RTL can't be reversed. No need to explore this, it's impossible. Another example : if the number of legs sequence is 111 (so the three bars only have 1 leg each), the longest leg of any bar can't be l13 cause there is only one leg and it's the number 2 = sent. So, I just began to merge what is possible to surge simultaneously. I wanted at first to do it in Excel with "IF..THEN" formulas, but I just don't master Excel good enough for that, and it's a bit too complex right now for me to not do it by hand. So, let's go and let's mix the parameter "number of legs sequence" and "longest leg sequence" to start. It's the parameter a in my preliminary matrixs, and b. So a x b. And I get there : Now, what about a x c ? -> alone, a number of legs sequence can't dictate anything to the ubication of the close of the 3rd bar. relative to prior RTL. We need to add a parameter, like PC for example if we want to see possibilities to begin to reduce themselves. a x d -> same a x e -> same a x f -> as each Doji bar has at least 2 legs (if not we don't even have a bar, it's open stuck to close with zero evolution above and under it), each number of legs sequence having a "1" makes the "D" of the sentiment sequence on the same place impossible. So I get here : The more I'll add parameters sequences, the more the finite universe of possibilities will reduce itself. This is ... I don't know, great, amazing, euphoriant, and truely beautiful. For me, it's quite like being an explorator discovering a new world in its totality... Let's see what I can do until Friday ^^ This exercise has 2 goals : spend/fill time with a practice that keeps me in the process while waiting for going back to VTP and log when I have my docs printed, AND build finally...the finite universe of possibilities of surgeable cases with all the parameters we need and can find on a bar.
Good methodical work with logical progression. Now you can look at each of the permutations and do so a VTP on each volume sequence. Starting at the first bar being a. P1, is the next volume bar; Does price permit to measure? What is Price case? Is Degap? Is Use Larger? Is repeat? Is rev chron? Is retro? Is New? With the above one can fill ~10 columns on the log. Also with each permutation if your great matrix, they can form cells that can be arranged in sequences. This is how one derives the EE’s. Or you can make a visual catalog of them through the EE sheets.
After developping and exploring more and more and more possibilities it turns out I need to reverse the way i wanted to do the Great Matrix, from the same foundation base. Why so ? Because after thinking and working about it, it appears the theorical number of possibilities after merging any possible nuance of each parameter together on each and every PC combo, is around 90 millions. I was gonna explore everything at the same time, to see how it reduces itself. I am now gonna reduce things from the beginning at the maximum they can be, for then begin to develop and explore every possible nuance case. Better and faster. In addition to that, I feel the number of legs does not need to be included as a parameter in this Matrix cause it will appear clearly on the chart, whithout any need to have it already on a catalog. Nonetheless, other parameter do need to be on it. Which are they ? -> PC combo (a) -> sentiment sequence (b) -> slope (c) -> volume triad (d) -> O/C of 3rd bar (e) -> BM rev (f) -> BO,T1 (g) So I have this as a base : This sticks more to clarity whithout privating from completion, and already reduces considerably the possibilities. Let's see what I get. I have to mix this : It will be needed to be done 2 times, a first time with BM arbitrary put on the 1st bar, and a second time on the 2nd bar. Hopefully I achieve this before tomorrow afternoon, so when I have my docs printed. @Sprout , I understand the process you talk about, but please, can you reformulate the sentence I quoted from you please ? I feel like there's a punctuation missing, or some tipo, comething like this. As you know we're talking about perfection and complete precision, so that would help me a lot. It's decisive to understand it, as it opens up the beginning of the next steps you mentionned, that lead to already fill around 10 cells of the log.
Starting at the first volume bar being a P1, Is the next volume bar; -Requiring a degap? -When degapped, Is it a measurable bar either by Price Case or UL? -A Repeat of this bar thus being another P1. -If not, by referring to the volume element range sheet, can Rev Chron be done on this bar? -If not, can Retro be applied to this bar? -If not, what is the next volume element that can be assigned? etc,... The above is a checklist, an order of questions to ask on each bar, that’s what the VTP is and that the log supports. It also operates on negative logic - that one can know a thing by knowing what it is not.
I don’t know if what you intend to do is making forward progress or being busy with your own invention. You know you. I think your time would be better spent making a visual catalog of the EE’s and filling out a log. Go to where you got stuck and find the answer to what that bar ID is or possibility could be. If you are uncertain between two then spawn an additional log tracking the other possibility. I erased a lot when first doing the VTP, and still do from time to time when a ‘lock-in’ wasn’t uthat. The log is meant as a workspace that can get messy with pencil and erasing not as a polished gem of pen and ink or a perfect report card of all ‘A’’s the first time through it.
