You could have asked the question in your other thread started earlier... https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/do-futures-for-intraday-trading-work.327187/ But hey, I hear the mods here love duplicate thread clutter. *sarcasm meter at max*
Who needs a lot of money is because they have little knowledge, I think the amount Turveyd says is sensible. If you are a good trader, of course.
It's not even close to sensible. If you can make a decent living off $3K capital with liquid futures consistently, you're in the top 0.001% of traders. You basically just said pretty much everyone on ET is stupid, yet have been here only for a few months. Why do I bother. Open your trading account and go for it.
Getting good is the tricky and important part, this year with his money is a scam to take all your money, would you really trade more than 1 or 2 contracts if you had 500k? Margin requirement x's 2 is all you need in the account and money in your bank to cover you for bad days I plan to get to 10k min 20k max before going full time, reduce margin, double contract size, too scarey above that imho. Jumped on the last dax up move, made $200 in 4mins without leaving my bed lol It's easy, the trick is not making it hard, KISS!
Lol. Depends on your lifestyle. Obviously, if you are hobos, you don't need much money to maintain your lifestyle, but if you are a guy with limborgini, yachts and live in big mansions in a very wealth neighborhood like Scarsdale, NY, East Hampton or Soho, NYC, obviously you need a lot of money to do that. You can burn through $100,000 a month easily. It is very high maintenence. Nevertheless, both lifestyles require a consistent trading income streaming, however small or big. I dont think you can achieve either without some trading skills. Even you have a big trading account balance like a million. Most likely you will blow up in a short time. if you are very very lucky, it will last much longer like years and years. The odd is very much stack against you.
more than you probably think... and if you are new.. the "tuition" of learning and what you will loose for the first 3-5 years is approx $50,000 USD
Worst case I was down $1300, I'm approx +$6000 here as I've had to borrow from the account a few too many times, ie profits, you can do it smarter and cheaper! 50K Ouch, that's 2 years wages for me LOL Simple life, cheap car, inexpensive hobby, work less, have more fun, is my chosen lifestyle!
