The statement in verse 19, "Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky" does not have a time stamp included. We know from the chapter 1 passage that it is referring to the previous days of creation when God had formed every beast and every bird. The Chapter 1 sequence of events would have been assumed in the retelling of of the events in Chapter 2. Putting the same sentence structures into a modern situation might make it more clear. On Tuesday Bill went to the store and bought lettuce. On Wednesday he went to the store and bought lunchmeat. On Thursday he went to the store and bought mayonnaise. On Saturday, Bill had a friend over for lunch. Bill had bought lettuce, lunchmeat and mayonnaise from the store but he had forgotten to get bread. Bill told his friend they should get lunch at Chic-Fil-A instead of eating at home. The second paragraph in the story is complete and truthful, but it does not give the details that it was on the days of the previous week that he had made the purchases.
