If someone talks about FLU stats in another thread...

Why should they repeat it in THIS thread and why should it matter to you that they don't repeat the info with stats again in this thread ???

Simply, I don't have time for the nonsense debates with someone trying hard to make it a political discussion. Best you take it to the Politics section @ https://www.elitetrader.com/et/forums/politics.27/

Myself, I've already posted a summary of stats about Flu vs Covid in THIS thread in my 1st message post in THIS from one of my message post in another thread about the differences between Covid-19 and the Flu from another thread.

Here is my 1st message post in this thread just in case you missed it @ https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/flu-vs-covid.349161/#post-5185866

Corona virus is a strain of Flu virus that comes around every 4 years, you'll likely find that a corona virus went around and caused a slightly higher death rate about 4years ago, just nobody gave it a name and drummed up massive irrational fear, they also won't admit to this ofcourse.

If you count out all the bullshit died tested positive with, ONS stat's guys in the UK saying 15,000 ish actual covid deaths, 45K extra deaths, Flu deaths yearly are 17K and upto 35K if vaccine fails to work, so Covids death rate is about the same as Flu.

    SLEEP laters!! :)

For all the responses to this thread, no one disputes the fact that we close down the economy for a disease that has less impact than other diseases and illnesses that are at least as preventable if not more so.

Totally irrational response to ONE disease in an election year. Go figure.

Correct, no one is disputing that the economy was shut down for a new disease that has become a Pandemic when there's no vaccine. Just as importantly, nobody is disputing that other countries only did a "lockdown lite" (not a full shutdown). :D

Reminder, there's other topics about Flu vs Covid just under a different title here at the forum. I've seen a few of the same folks in this thread from the prior threads.

Simply, its already been debated which may be a reason why many may not be willing to rehash any stats involving prior info although I myself only posted a summary of stats from an earlier debate in another thread in my very first message post in this thread.

Look at it this way, hopefully, years from now...you'll be able to go to your local pharmacy and get over the counter Covid-19 medicine (syrup) just like you can for the FLU. Yet, only the worst cases will be hospitalize.

    For what it is worth...
    • Comparing the Flu to Covid-19 is a flaw argument considering the first Influenza Pandemic...world governments acted the exact same way as they are doing for the first Covid-19 Pandemic.
The difference, back in those days it was very easy to shut down economies for health crisis and then restart (rebuild) versus more complicated economies of today that have more countries interconnected.

Actually, more FEAR in the first Influenza Pandemic because it targeted children and the weak...there was no vaccine. I posted in another thread the stats between the two to show their difference in government responses...won't do it again...to many people trying instead to debate about Politics.

50 million people died from the first Influenza Pandemic...a pandemic that had no vaccine. Many governments still remembers it.

Good for you. Then you should just go die now cuz for every single second that you are alive, someone is taking care of you, wasting their money and lives just like your parents did. Otherwise you need help, serious help.

Can't believe people are comparing Covid to smoking. First of all, smoking is something that you have totally brought upon yourself. You are well aware of the risk of smoking and the damaging effects on health but you still puff away so not to say that you deserve what happens to you as a consequence but you do lie in bed that you made. Whereas Covid can be caught COMPLETELY unaware and through no fault of my own. It's not my fault that I went to the grocery store and touched an area of the counter that was just touched by somebody after having wiped their nose full of mucus containing the virus and caught the disease as a result. It's not the fault of a bus driver who decided to still work and breathed in the air containing the virus that was just coughed out by some selfish idiots who has the virus but refused to wear a mask. Btw that driver later on caught the virus and died. He was only 49, non-smoker and healthy and hardly somebody who was at "end of his life" like some selfish callous douche claimed. True story and it actually happened in UK.

Second health damage from smoking is not instantaneous. There are people who smoked their whole life and only died at the end like some idiots here said at "end of their life" having lived their full life. Whereas Covid kills you in two weeks, cutting short a life that could've extended to ripe old age, denying them all of life's opportunities through no fault of their own.

Third smoking is not contagious. As long as you don't smoke in front of me all the time giving me second-hand smoke, you can puff away all you want killing yourself I won't get affected. I won't catch your "smoking" and start to get the "smoking" disease myself. Whereas with Covid, you are contagious always I could catch the disease just with you standing right there besides me, and get sick and die.

Bottom line, Covid-19 is a serious and deadly disease and we need to do what's necessary to have it under control. To say anything else is just being too chicken s*** to face the reality.

This would be concerning if it were true.

What are the ET'ers thoughts on Dr David Nabarro, the WHO’s special envoy on COVID-19 who is Claimed to have stated:

“We Destroyed the World’s Greatest Economy for No Good Reason”

Even the World Health Organization is coming out against lockdowns. Dr David Nabarro, the WHO’s special envoy on COVID-19, says:

We really do appeal to all world leaders: stop using lockdown as your primary control method… We in the World Health Organization do not advocate lockdowns as the primary means of control of this virus. The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganize, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted, but by and large, we’d rather not do it.

We destroyed the world’s greatest economy for no good reason.

Forget the hindsight genius solution and pandemic deniers... Why is it that we follow an inefficient economic and monetary system? Fragile and unable to pause, most of us (the non rich) are puppets of a system that will prefer to sacrifice us all as long as the machine keeps going. Same goes for the health of the planet. Who cares about the drainage and long term damage to natural resources... As long as the political, economic monetary machine keeps going, and the puppets keep obeying and thinking that they are free and living the dream. Priceless idiocy. The system needs radical changes. Humanity deserves this shit.

WHO where the 1s calling for lockdowns, but there squirming as they over estimated the deaths and screwed us all over.

UK been trying to do a just cause we can lockdown for 6weeks, northern ireland only 1 so far, looking like next friday.

Looks like hospital admissions have already peaked few days to confirm.

Government ended the shielding for the at risk to coincide there deaths with flu deaths to create a looks like a 2nd wave to push more lockdowns, tell me why so interested in screwing up the economy.
