Exactly Market was closed for 4 consecutive days if I remember correctly due to the weekend, New Year’s Day on Monday, and for Ford on Tuesday
The New York Stock Exchange said it will suspend normal trading on Wednesday. "The exchange will observe a minute of silence to honor President Bush on Monday. As per our tradition, we will close the markets in observation of the Day of Mourning," spokesperson Kristen Kaus said.
"The New York Stock Exchange said it will suspend normal trading on Wednesday." You mean ICE. They bought them all. Bastuds. Hate them and their data-feed fees. As if their WTI is better than CME WTI. Oi!
Hey, the only thing I was on about was this reply you made... https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/dec-5-stock-market-closure.327529/#post-4768211 It seemed erroneous. NVM man.
I agree, it's BS. Considering the markets are global now and there's a considerable number of foreign listings. It's a dated practice.
This closure is total BS, the exchange needs to seriously review their policy on this. Doubtless the London Stock Exchange will be closed on the day of the reigning monarch's funeral but not for any former politician*, we do not hold them in serious regard. (* except Winston Churchill, but most will agree it was right that was an exception.)
How come no one is calling nonsense that in 2018 the markets are still only open 6.5 hrs a day ....what kind of garbage is that....even crypto currency trades 24/7 and that's one of the newest asset classes in decades ...futures trade 24 hrs a day 5 days a week. I mean think about it ...it's a global market place in today's time...it's not 1943 or 1982. We have the capability to trade around the clock. Humans are no longer in the forefront of the financial markets ...it's all computers doing the work so let's stop with extended hour trading and the fu$king pathetic 6.5 hour trading day and extend it to 12 hours a day and eventually move it to 24 hours. Money never sleeps ....
I agree with you. It is a remnant of the market being driven by actual humans on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. Hell the NASDAQ is 100% computer driven, as are many other markets. But I doubt this ever changes in USA I trade futures. And one of the biggest and most challenging things for me to deal with it is not trading for too many hours. There are days when I literally traded for 15 hours or more. It’s not good
