CRT is going to be a significant issue in upcoming elections. We will continue to see if regularly in the public spotlight. At this point it is probably a leading issue which will cause significant Democratic losses in the upcoming 2022 election at the federal, state, and local level in competitive races. Let's me summarize -- once again -- where I stand. I believe that U.S. history should be taught fully including all of our faults (slavery, racism, etc.) in our K-12 schools. A comprehensive view of our history should be taught -- warts & all. The curriculum and lesson plans for classroom should be driven by state & local education professionals. Parents should be allowed to have input at school board meetings in a polite and appropriate manner about any concerns they have about educational material being taught their children. I do not support state legislatures and governors passing overly broad "anti-CRT" laws which are meant to limit the factual teaching of our history -- effectively only allowing "traditional" history to be taught. However -- K-12 schools are expected to be "happy places" where students can learn while free of abuse from teachers and classmates based on their race, gender, or religion. Lesson plans which separate students on the basis of race calling some oppressors and others the oppressed are clearly not appropriate for K-12 schools. These type of CRT lesson plans which belittle and demean K-12 students should not be used in the classroom. Anyone pretending that inappropriate CRT lessons are not being used in the classroom has not been paying attention. Pretending that CRT is merely a "right-wing nothing-burger" is not going to work for Democrats in the upcoming election. Every independent voting parent can see reality -- and as shown in Virginia they are no longer going to put up with this denial. Democrats need to come out directly and address CRT. Earlier in this thread I even provided a script of what the Democrats need to say. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/thre...arents-fight-back.359357/page-61#post-5490990
I have a hangover and I realise that Ipatent and GWB etc. lack the cranial capacity to see what I'm on about. Time for some plink, plink, fizz and get my serotonin back up to its usual miserable level.
Let's dispel w/this notion that anti-CRT rhetoric isn't racist: “Whites, it must frankly be said, are not putting in a similar mass effort to reeducate themselves out of their racial ignorance. It is an aspect of their sense of superiority that the white people of America believe they have so little to learn.” “I wept for my children and all black children who have been denied a knowledge of their heritage; I wept for all white children, who, through daily miseducation, are taught that the Negro is an irrelevant entity in American society; I wept for all the white parents and teachers who are forced to overlook the fact that the wealth of cultural and technological progress in America is a result of the commonwealth of inpouring contributions.” “Yet the average white person also has a responsibility. He has to resist the impulse to seize upon the rioter as the exclusive villain. He has to rise up with indignation against his own municipal, state and national governments to demand that the necessary reforms be instituted which alone will protect him. If he reserves his resentment only for the Negro, he will be the victim by allowing those who have the greatest culpability to evade responsibility. Social justice and progress are the absolute guarantors of riot prevention. There is no other answer. Constructive social change will bring certain tranquillity; evasions will merely encourage turmoil. Negroes hold only one key to the double lock of peaceful change. The other is in the hands of the white community.” “In the days ahead we must not consider it unpatriotic to raise certain basic questions about our national character.” “Yet the average white person also has a responsibility. He has to resist the impulse to seize upon the rioter as the exclusive villain. He has to rise up with indignation against his own municipal, state and national governments to demand that the necessary reforms be instituted which alone will protect him. If he reserves his resentment only for the Negro, he will be the victim by allowing those who have the greatest culpability to evade responsibility.”
CRT is an attack on American history and society. Opponents have been fighting with one hand behind their metaphorical backs just out of a desire to be nice. America has bent over backwards the past 50 years to try to be more welcoming to minorities.
The American people have made great sacrifices to be nice, and inclusive, the past 50 years, spending tons of money and giving lots of racial preferences as a step up. Now they are being rewarded by getting called more names. When will they decide it's just not worth the effort?
