Allowing violent felons back on the street who are likely to re-offend and are a danger to others is an affront to society. In cases like this involving the attempted assassination of a politician there should be no bail.
These bail bond projects are just leveling the playing field on what whitey has been able to afford for decades (going home to await trial). And I agree with you, some should be held, w/the expressed guarantee of a speedy trial.
The hundreds of millions of guns on the streets due to the 2nd amendment are a danger to others and is an affront to society.Dont see calling to violate that amendment though
GQP: Retaining the 2nd amendment is worth those sacrificed to gun violence Also GQP: Not a single victim should be sacrificed to protect the 6th amendment, or 14th, or 1st, or....
If the guns are legally owned by individuals who are no criminals -- then tell us what the problem is. This accounts for well over 95% of firearms in America which are owned by decent upright citizens who never break the law.. It is is the illegal guns in the hands of felons which are the problem. We should have more active policing stepping up to identify and arrest these criminals while giving them lengthy sentences for illegal gun possession -- and get the guns out of the hands of criminals. If you want to have common sense laws in place about magazine size, background screening, etc. -- I am open to common sense gun control measures. In fact I have previously posted in ET some of the measures I support.
The point Tony's making and you're either too obtuse or cynical to ignore is that enjoying the benefits of the 2nd amendment inevitably will result in victims to that freedom. Likewise, not having a bail bond system & a bill of rights means some will suffer from those freedoms. For every killer that's out there on bail, there's another 10 that can't afford it.
It is a certainty that guns will get into the hands of criminals when 20+ million of them are sold every year
Most killers don't get bail. Bail is also means tested based on the discretion of the judge. It is a disincentive to flee. The wealthy pay more.
