Thanks @Obelixtrader - what do you mean by "You cant convert money to KRW but you can hold profits in KRW"?
There is a law in Korea which prevents foreign entities (e.g. you and me) from buying Korean Won using a foreign currency. However, if you make trading profits in KRW you can keep those profits in your account. And you are allowed to sell those KRW, converting them to another currency.
Thats interesting, so how can one trade K200? If I have an IB acct (which offers K200/K200M) wouldnt I have to convert my base currency to KRW to trade these products which trade in KRW? Excuse my ignorance on the subject.
Thanks @maxinger, which broker / data provider do you use for SET50? I had a look at AMP and IB but they dont offer this product. Couldnt find anyone who does in my limited search. Interesting that they dont have o/night trading and have a 1:45min break for lunch. I found delayed data on TradingView, which I just use for quick searches.
I get the Thailand Futures data through Esignal charting software. I don't think IB offers this product. There are quite a few brokers from Singapore which offers SET50 product. SET50 is open during Thailand day time with lunch break in between. I didn't search for Thailand or Hong Kong broker. I am sure they do offer SET50 product.
Your IB account is a multi-currency account. This means that if you don't have KRW cash in your account and buy a KRW denominated instrument you are borrowing KRW from IB. You will have a negative KRW cash position and IB will charge you debit interest rate.
