When you do make sure you know where your stops are held, that way you are save if your computer would crash or you lose your internet connection.

And half the Algos running are designed to spoof the other naive Algos. Entire proprietary trading firms in Chicago and NYC are built upon the premise of gaming less sophisticated Algos and slower ECN latency.

Firms like Spike spend hundreds of thousands of dollars per month on ECN infrastructure. It’s just a micro arbitrage speed game. They’ve got IT Pros on staff that are well into six figures per year. And they don’t trade.

    *************************************
If you have a mouse in your hand and you’re trading DOM order flow - you are dead meat on the table.

    ************************************

You’re so dead you might as well fly to Vegas and put your entire trading account equity on Red in one roulette bet. Better odds.

Because 90% of you are so underfunded that you’re clearing a deep discount broker. You want to save fifty cents per round turn - but you’re oblivious to the fact that your discount broker requires at least two additional exchange ECN messages per trade. Even when they advertise “collocated servers” {that’s the Direct Clearing Member your discount broker uses BTW}. {{To translate: your orders are getting routed to two different geographical locations before they get routed to the exchange}}. [if you’re using a discount broker, your order is getting two credit checks before it reaches the exchange server]

So you save 50 cents per RT but the super high speed direct clearing ECN Algos drain you for $12.50 in slippage. Moral victory?

Actually, I was trying to determine if you're using any statistical analysis about your trade performance regardless if you're on a simulator or real money.

Its easy to determine that because most trade execution platforms will do basic statistical analysis and one of the metrics is the average trade time in a trade, win loss ratios and many other basic stats.

My point, whatever you're doing...use at the minimum the statistical analysis program in your broker trade execution platform although I would recommend using a professional trade journal software that works with your broker trade execution platform so that you'll know the quantitative statistical analysis of your trade performance.

Look at it this way, you're competition (the pros) know the statistics about the performance of their Algorithms to help them adapt their program especially when market conditions change.

By the way, I don't consider 10 - 20 point targets as scalp trades nor do DOM traders typically shoot for targets like that. Successful scalpers usually looking for ticks (not points), trade times typically less than 1min, high percentage number in their winners, using a Algorithm (not point and click) but they'll happily take a few points if it presents itself...

10 - 20 point targets is just day trading (not scalping). Simply, you're at a great disadvantage. To proceed into real money trading like this...you're just gambling.

P.S. A lot of members here speak a different language. I recommend you let the forum know what language you speak that's your native language. It may be useful to you to me other DOM traders that speak the same language.

Isn't spoofing supposed to be illegal. Or is it just not enforced at all on the big firms.

If you are genius from outside the US, who is able to beat algos inside US, then it's illegal ;) (meaning Nav)
It you are HFT/algo with good capital and "connections" inside US then, enjoy.

  9. Many years ago I started a thread named "Cant it be done?" https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/can-it-be-done.228757/ with a focus on trading and scalping a small account. However, I think it also got some interest in the way I traded, and still trade today - every single day: The answer is all in the DOM, dome, matrix, price ladder, MDTrader, SuperDOM, whatever it's called on your platform! And I have always said this all along - the algos, HFT, etc. all follow a very very simple execution rule, so much so that if you figure it out, you realize that they're the dumbest! As if you can queue them to come in and make the market bid or ask, to the exact tick! And then for all you chartists and TA traders, I bet you dollar to doughnuts that the exact same price lines up on your chart flashing a signal to take the trade! Believe me, and it is the same in EVERY single market: ES, YM, NQ, M2K, MES, MNQ, CL, NG, 6E, 6J, GC, SI, ZC, ZS, etc., which I trade them all (one instrument at a time - I cannot see what I'm looking for on two or more DOMs side-by-side, perhaps a shortcoming of trading this way), the same dumb algos are hard at work! Lately, the question has been the volatility, and the speed in some of the fastest markets - for example, MNQ - a favorite. I can tell you, even at the speed of flashes, even during non-farm payroll, FOMC, etc. releases, the same dumb algos are running wild on the DOM and you can still discern how predictable they can be! And once you get it all, it's like finding that proverbial "Print Check Button" every trader is looking for from day one. Happy 4th to all, and good trading.

  10. And I don't want my comments to become a pissing contest and a dick-to-dick match, as it is common on ET. That is why I gave up on my one and only Thread on ET! :) Maybe I should not have taken the bait when I saw "Active DOM traders"! I have been doing this long enough to get a paycheck from the market every single Friday (yes, profitable every single week, and yes, outgoing wire every single Friday!). Beats the hell out of years and years of "incoming wires", and having a day job to pay for it all! We all have been there ....
