Lesbian Houston Mayor Goes After Churches

Discussion in 'Politics' started by AAAintheBeltway, Oct 15, 2014.

  1. This is just so wrong on so many levels, beginning with the question of how does a lesbian get elected mayor in Houston of all places. Then the city council passes some idiotic law allowing men to use women's bathrooms, etc in the name of gender equity. Religious groups oppose it and the next thing you know, the city is demanding copies of sermons so they can look for bias. Honestly, I can't imagine this happening in NYC or SF. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2014/10/14/city-houston-demands-pastors-turn-over-sermons/

The churches better have the guts to tell the mayor to go jump in the gulf of mexico.
This is the United States of America... and this is what seperation of church from state is really about.

After reading the article - let me just say that this mayor pursuing churches due to the sermons of pastors is absurd - as well as some of the laws passed.

    Yes, the answer is obvious.

After Katrina. large numbers of contemptible people from New Orleans moved to Houston - raising the crime rate, ruining the quality of life, and voting multiple times.

Straight ticket voting pulling the "Democratic" lever without any thinking. But that's why they bus all of them to the polls to do before they give them Walmart gift cards.

  8. Bias? These people aren't allowed to have an opinion? Biased or not they are allowed to speak their mind. It's called the 1st amendment you dumb fucks. Oh yeah, that only applies for leftist opinions.
Personally I have little use for organized religion, but they are entitled to their opinion just like some idiot leftist is entitled to their opinion. Bias? A leftist concerned about bias? This must be some kind of bad joke.

The law, among other things, would allow men to use the ladies room and vice versa.

Ahhh yes. And the first time we have a sexual assault in the women's (men's) bathroom. Maybe the mayor will be the first to experience that.

This is beyond stupid. So women will use a urinal? If not, then there aren't too many stalls so why the hell go into someone else's bathroom.

Once again .. we see that gays don't want equal rights they want to go beyond that.

The real question is how did a major city in very red Texas elect a mayor that leans way left of most liberal politicians?

The answer is directly linked to the large number of New Orleans residents that were displaced by Katrina and stayed in Houston.

Nobody wants to discuss what a complete disaster this has become for Houston. The violent crime rate soared. The need for increased public benefits/services and housing nearly broken the finances of the city. The Houston school system went from being adequate to one of the most violent in the nation. Even the relatively high starting salary of $49,100 has not been able attract new teachers to Houston despite them holding teacher recruitment fairs in nearly every state in the U.S. including North Carolina.

Houston has now turned into the Detroit of Texas.

So how did this mayor get elected? It involved the new residents just pulling the level labeled "Democrat" in the voting booth - because they were promised more free stuff.
