  2. im running zone alarm (free-version) on XP-Home editon
    for 3 weeks now
i didnt have any crashs yet, i just have problems in outlook.
after a few hrs (or next day) outlook is blocked.

(my machine is running overnight, i dont shutdown my computers)

when problem occurs, outlook is still registered as a program allowed to pass through, but it is blocked.

automatic lock is disabled in my case, so i dont understand.

in a few weeks i will install the PRO-version in my company and will try this one on my home computer.

    maybe the version act different.

  6. hi eddie,

i still havent tried the pro-version of ZA.

but i was told about another firewall named 'outpost'.

i have just uninstalled ZA and im very satisfied with the fetaures of this firewall.

in my opinion it is not comparable with ZA. it shows hundreds of more information of what is going on and it is as easy to handle as ZA.

but u can make your own rules for every kind of connection, what makes this progam more interesting for me.
(im afraid, some higher understanding of computer is needed then as it is to use ZA)

    just try it:

lippi, go to grc.com (shieldsup!) and give outpost a spin and let us know how it did. I'm curious to see how it stacks up against ZA in its stealth abilities as well as its leakproofness (there is a test on grc.com called leak test you will have to try also for this).

    Thanks.

  8. babak,
    thx for this recommendation.

i just made this test. leaktest failed(i was warned by firewall)

i have made this kind of test before. our german government provides a site for tests like grc does.

i dont know why, but since weeks, this german site is reached forward to a switzerlands government site.

but this sites are all in german, im afraid, u cant read it. i didnt find a 'language key'.

i walked through all this test and i was told about all the 'leaks' i allowed: java.....
    but i need them.
in my opinion, 'outpost' does his job well. the grc-test was made at once without any prob.

the german test showed what i knew: which ports were open.

so i still have no doubts about 'outpost'

    could this help, babak ?
