zone alarm users

  1. Can Online Armor be used alongside ZoneAlarm, or is that too taxing of computer resources.

  2. Perhaps this will help.....

    http://www.matousec.com/projects/firewall-challenge/results.php

    -Comodo Firewall Pro 3.0.22.349FREE 95% / 73 10+ Excellent
    -ZoneAlarm Pro 7.0.473.000 63% / 73 7 Poor Not recommended

  3. Thanks for that link. Interesting. So, Comodo has keylogger protection, but Online Armor does not?

  4. Had to look around to find one that supported your view? Noticing the Asian characters...

PCWorld gave Comodo 20 thumbs up and 65 down, overall 3/5 stars

most others think they are both excellent, such as these 2 (simple search on "review comodo zonealarm firewall" will show they are both quite good):

  5. As a former ZA Pro user for several years, I was astonished at the "Poor" rating given to ZA! After reviewing the detailed analysis done at Matousec of the numerous firewalls, Comodo was very appealing for the price! And I am very pleased with its performance. Worth a look is all I am saying vs. the ZA bloatware.

Of course your links provide no in depth objective analysis of firewall effectiveness like that provided by Matousec with the exception of Firewallguide, which actuallly provides a link to the Matousec analysis. :p

Comodo - Two Thumbs Up :D

  6. This stuff is really confusing.

If I run Comodo AND ZoneAlarm together, is that overkill?

  7. Techno Gods:

    Okay, I really help here.

How necessary is Comodo or Online Armor (assuming they're even better than ZoneAlarm)?

I go to one site, and they claim that ZoneAlarm is adequate, some claiming even better and that Comodo or OA are 'buggy,' while another site claims ZoneAlarm is not adequate.

What's the truth from a credible source?

ZoneAlarm seems as if it has served me well for years.

FWIW. I heard Leo Laporte saying zone alarm was too top heavy. Although he was down on software firewalls in general he did recommend Kerio. I would not use comodo, found it way too aggrevating.

  9. You miss the point of course.

You pick an obscure asian site.

My point was, run the search. Many sites will come up. They will not support your assertion that ZA is "poor"

Most of the major reviews I have seen, put ZA at or near the top.

  10. Its a while since I've seen a review that put zone alarm free at or near the top. And even the paid version didn't score all that well in recent times.

Comodo and Outpost (did I get that right) seemed pretty good but za hasn't been up there for a while. Especially the free version.
