Thanks, Arb. That does suck though. Any other suggestions on how to play bonds other than through a direct position in the futs (which I haven't ruled out)? I recently dabbled in the TLT options, but the liquidity was pretty poor as well (though at least they traded). HD
Does IB allow electronic options trading on ZN? I know the contract traded 8000 lots on the screen Thursday. Yet I never get quotes either when I try to enter the most active strikes on TWS.
I sold a couple hundred straddles in ZN thru TWS, but the market in the atm and near otm options have disappeared on TWS. I was lucky enough to neutralize my delta pos. in Friday's release snafu. I traded all thru TWS in the past 10 days -- the bids/offers disappeared on Friday. I don't know if it's a ECBOT prob or IB -- would love to hear from Def on this. riskarb
I just checked out the CBOT website and, though I might be reading it wrong (the site leaves much to be desired), it seems to be showing reasonably heavy volume on the ZN options (at least the May series), though, as one would expect, electronic volume is dwarfed by pit volume. I'm thus inclined to believe this might be an IB/TWS problem. Def, care to chime in on this?
I traded (very) few ATM straddles on the Jun 116's, just to see what the market was like. I bailed out when the bids/offers started disappearing on TWS. I stopped trading ES opts for the same reason. I've had a lot of luck with the YM options though. Very liquid, and you can usually get a decent fill at the natural. ND
