Here is an interview, what is going to make FF bitch about Dr. Oz. But he is only asking the questions and the doc on the right side is the important one. Basically he has been treating OUTPATIENT sick people who are not in such a bad shape and his results are excellent:
I kinda am. I had the same theory, that HCQ worked fairly well without Zinc in people who were NOT deficient. There was enough Zinc in their bodies for the HCQ to work with. But people who where Zinc deficient the HCQ made no difference. Of course all people can get the virus Zinc deficient or not, but the reaction to HCQ alone treatment would be different. Actually, the doc in the video makes the same assumption at 8:50.
It goes back to the same old assertions, that the treatment - if it works- is most likely to be effective if applied early. The virus and zinc are competing for the same receptor site. The hydroxy is the ionophore that carries the zinc though the cell membrane to the receptor. So in in regard to that one receptor site, the virus is shiite out of luck. The zinc ion got there first and is sitting on the nest and no room for visitors. But as the infection progresses- the zinc cannot do much even if you are not deficient or even if you are getting huge amounts intravenously because the virus has already tied up the receptor sites- or many of them- and the zinc would have to move the virus off the binding receptor. Doesnt work.
Reading Youtube comments I agree with, about the HCQ badly designed study: "Stephen Gibb After watching peak prosperity dissect this study it becomes clear the doctors were just giving HCQ to people who were sicker as a last resort. Which obviously means then that the HCQ people will have a higher deathrate by default." "Brian K The dismissal of hydroxychloroquine with zinc, etc. treatments used early at the onset of covid-19 by the mainstream media and medical elites is a poster child example of the battle between integrity vs ideological rigidity." "WolfsbaneHollow The Vets "study" wasn't even an actual study. And they were only giving hydroxychloroquine in the final, hail mary, stages. When given WITH ZINC which they didn't do (and thats important because it enables the process) the hydroxychloroquine can be used as an ANTIVIRAL, which needs to be done early in the infection, ..it stops the virus from replicating... its not going to help if they wait until the virus has already multiplied and done its damage...too little too late"
Since most people get better anyway, why risk the serious side effects of a drug of dubious value for COVID-19 before it may be "necessary?" Should you cut off your finger as soon as you get an infection on it?
Zinc is very tricky. Hard to absorb. But taking too much can do more harm than good. It becomes an immunosuppressent/sp above an optimal amount. Not good. If you want to do it right. You need a serum blood test. Take a reasonable amount- say 30-40mg five days a week for a month. Then get a lab test. If you live near a city you probably have access to a Labcorps lab. So go to the Life Extension foundation and google labtests. Find zinc. Might have to just look on the A-Z index there. Order the test. Go to Labcorp, take the paperwork that Life Extension foundation sent you, give it to them, have the blood drawn. Wait a couple days and you will get an email from Labcorp with your test results. With ranges shown. And where you are on it. Cost = $26.00 right now, anyway. Adjust your zinc intake as needed -up or down- if you have made a large adjustment then retest again at some later date to see where you are now. If you don't live near a Labcorp lab they have some other process which is to send a test kit and you go to your local lab and have the blood drawn and then send it to Labcorp. Or something like that. Anyway, there is a process there that will work for you too. You could be taking a pantload of zinc and be wayy over an optimal amount, or you could be taking a pantload and getting very little absorption and need to take even more. You don't know without a blood test. I mean if your zinc level is critical to you in this covid time that is how to find out where you are really at. You go do all this through your local doctor too but it will cost you a lot more and you will have to explain all sorts of stuff that will just slow you down or cause you to act as though you need their agreement on something or not. You don't.
I don't know. My understanding is that you just pee out the extra Zinc. So a huge build up is not likely. Also it is better to take 2-3 times during the day because after 5 hours it starts to leave the body.
If that is your view, that is fine. Readers should - by all means- do their research before concluding that zinc does not present toxicity issues with excessive use.
