I wish the jury knew this. Sadly, the judge has allowed so much evidence to be suppressed by this team of pc prosecutors, it's mind bending.
Maybe the jury room is bugged. George Zimmerman's friend was just on TV saying he knows the jury is 5-1 for acquittal on the manslaughter charge. Just one hold out. Don't ask me how he knows this.
The powers that be fired the police chief for running a reasonable investigation (not arresting fast enough when evidence suggested self defense and hence no crime), and the IT guy for telling the defense that the prosecution was hiding 1000s of photos from the victims cell phone and not turning them over to the defense. Show trial for sure.
The last I heard the Jury was trying to get more info on what Manslaughter means and the judge & the lawyers basically just said "what do you mean, what does it mean?" They are afraid to tell these jurors that manslaughter is basically the same sentence as murder 2.
If one person on the jury wants manslaughter and the others want a not guilty verdict, then the outcome is a hung jury. Is this correct?
Yes unless they convince the one to change her mind or she convinces the other 5 to change theirs. If they report they are hung to the judge, the judge will tell them once to go back and try again. If they come back to the judge and say they are hung a second time, then the charges are vacated without prejudice, meaning the prosecution can retry the case again if they choose to.
Yeah that sounds correct. But, these days, right being wrong, wrong being right, up being down, down being up, the thought came to my mind that the obvious might not be how it "works".
