  1. Unlike the Zimmermen case that sounds like clean self defense shootings. The 65 year old nor the women provoked the confrontations that led to the shootings. Both suspects were committing crimes that led to them being shot,Martin was walking home with skittles and ice tea

DAYTONA BEACH -- A 22-year-old car theft suspect tried to elude police Tuesday morning, but was stopped in his tracks when he was confronted by a gun-toting 64-year-old woman.

"I was not going to let him go," said Karen Granville, who lives on Redwood Street. "I just held my gun in my right hand until the police arrested him."

"My adrenaline was just flowing at 100 mph," she said. "I just said, 'Stop right there (expletive), or you're going to be dead where you stand."

Granville held the man at gunpoint until police arrived.

This is the second time in less than two weeks older city residents have armed themselves to stop would-be criminals.

Charles Robbins, 82, shot and killed 24-year-old Tyler Orshoski after the man apparently tried to break into his home Jan. 11.

Police Chief Mike Chitwood said he doesn't encourage vigilante justice but said people have the right to protect themselves or their property.

"They're fed up with everything," he said. "People have to do what they have to do."

  4. No disrespect intended, but your comments are text book, perhaps the law will see it that way also, but I wonder if text book replies reflect not having spent any time on the street and how the world really works.

"Skittles and ice tea" ever hear the phrase "pampers and formula" defense?

When the Po-lice would stop the druggie near a known dealer hang out, the perp would say, I'm just going to the store to get some pampers. it's innocent enough at 2 am in the morning.Get it?

A ten day school suspension is a biggie. Then you send your kid off to live somewhere else for the 10 days? My kids would be in house dentention, as a matter of fact, school law in NY says the kid has to continue with education (home schooled by providing a tutor)not sending the kid on vacation to do nothing.

But, I have read of kids being sent out of town during a suspension to get away from gangs.

No one is diggin up dirt on Martin, probably because he is a protected class. The media isn;t interviewing his class mates or friends, zip nada nothing

  5. That question is a very good one, especially since somewhere way way back in here someone said you'd be practically lights out from even a light blow to the back of the head. Then there's the related question of how he managed to shoot Martin while he was on top of him and yet not get any of his blood on him. That detective that wanted to charge him with manslaughter I'm sure thought these same thoughts and decided his story didn't hold up to the light of day.
This whole thing reminds of a case somewhere in the South where allegedly they found some guy dead from multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, holding a bolt-action rifle. The cops decided it was a clear case of suicide...
...just like this was a clear case of self-defense.

That's because we have no media in the U.S. anymore. If you don't read about it in a British paper or on a British news site, you probably won't ever hear about it.

  7. That's what happens when you bring skittles to a gunfight.

I'm just glad zimmerman was armed.

When you assault someone you have to reasonably expect that you could be seriously wounded or killed without redress. Punks need to learn that lesson.

  9. That's nonsense,
1)It ain't like the movies where just any blow to the head causes "lights out".
    2) I wouldn't expect blood spatter from an entry wound in which the assailant is on top of you even in a tight clinched mount position.
    3) I don't see the supposed impossibility of drawing from a holster while someone is on top of you.

  10. This is an even bigger biggie imo

In 2005, George Zimmerman was twice accused of either criminal misconduct or violence.

That July, Zimmerman — 21 at the time — was at a bar near the University of Central Florida when a friend was arrested by state alcohol agents on suspicion of serving underage drinkers, according to an arrest report.

Zimmerman was talking with his friend, became profane and pushed an agent who tried to escort him away, the report said. Authorities said he was arrested after a short struggle.

Charged with resisting arrest without violence, he avoided conviction by entering a pretrial-diversion program, something common for first-time offenders.

A month later, court records show, a woman filed a petition for an injunction against Zimmerman, citing domestic violence.
