No my friend, I'm not living in the past. I was once like you, I held onto my cable TV because I was so used to it. But then I discovered it was better to cut the cord. Eventually I realized even YouTubeTV with its 50-100 channels was antiquated and still too much, a relic of the past. What people want is content tailored to their interests. YouTube algorithm will suggest many interesting new topics tailored to your interests.
Not sure why I never really got into Reddit, definitely believe upvoting is the best way to get some types of information. Yes YouTube content creators can do an excellent job of breaking down information if you are not an expert on the topic. Lately it's been interesting for me to see the opposing viewpoints on some topics like the crypto implosion. Lots of people saying "I told you so".
(about youtubers) Exactly the same questions i ask before blocking people. #1. A fool, that keeps asking in every single thread for free hand-outs. Second - adult male, knowladge limited, all of the sudden, starts using some gangsta-slang. 3'rd can't speak (should i say, - write) in a civilized manner. Given the fact that, if you don't like something, you can simply close the thread. Leaving a stupid negative comment has no value either. #2. Maybe because Spencer used to be a number 2 youtuber by subscriber base size, that would expose corrupted folk, crypto, nft scams etc, until he sold out. Yet, those 3 guys, are even less attention worthy then the uknown youtuber, thus, good riddance. Forum looks much more peaceful. P.s. ofcourse he's uknown. Just by accident, recently, saw some Youtuber who has 117M subscribers. Never heard of him.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of YouTube. That's how I became a mechanic, a plumber, an electrician and a painter! I don't have a tv and only get my media from the internet and YT takes a chunk of my time. I just don't get into content creators who have nothing better to do than criticize other content creators. There's infinite room to provide something of value rather than bitch about other ccs.
This statement perfectly illustrates the importance of YouTube and the Internet (wikipedia). That information is now easily accessible to ANYONE in the entire world. The old adage that "Made In China" meant the products were poorly made is no longer true. Tim Cook mentioned that they outsourced to China not because it was the cheapest option but rather it was the technical expertise at the right price. People around the world are quick to disseminate the knowledge to improve their lives infinitely. I'm always shocked to see Gen Zs in other countries, perfectly synchronized in their dancing/singing exploits on TikTok. What's shocking is that these are foreign kids embracing US culture just because it's cool. It's unlikely they understand the "American" significance of what they are parroting. World is getting smaller and information moving at lighting speed hence the new generation will be building amazing things at an even faster rate. Understand what this means, global competition is getting way better. Don't be astonished at the rate of progress.
Youtube is super annoying to learn anything from. Want to find out how to do the brakes on a 2010 Ford XYZ? 1) The search will show you tons of crap that's not what you want but is "promoted" it takes 5X longer than it should to find something. 2) Even if you find the video, it's take a 1/2 hour to pull out the meaningful facts for a task that could be conveyed in about one page of text and a few figures. 3) Often, the video to want find will exist on youtube, but will be impossible to find from their search because they're trying to hard to steer you towards other things. Then the 5X becomes infinity, unless you go back to a search engine again, dealing with their obnoxious algorithms instead. Youtube and wikipedia didn't make that happen. They came around after the fact and de-empasized all the search hits to the older, much better content out there. There use to be a thriving network of forums, newsgroups and small and or personal websites with tons of great information. It used to be, if you ran a search for how to do that brake job, you'd have a hit on a manufacturer-specific car forum right at the top. Now you have these giant garbage tech companies cross promoting each other. You'll get some marginally useful youtube hits, and some absolute garbage hits on sites like fixya.com, quora.com, etc. Then you have the issue that they're super ridiculously slanted in their viewpoint towards those of the globalist technocrats that run them, and have no respect for basic tenets of American culture like freedom of speech, the right to face your accuser, the right to a trial, no ex post facto laws, etc. What do you expect him to say, "Buy our phones at a premium price even though they're made with the same sweatshop quality labor as our cheaper competitors." I've seen this argument a lot. Obviously, if you have someone what every step of the process, making sure that all the materials are proper, etc, you can produce something decent, usually. But would I buy Chinese rock climbing equipment? Hell no. Dancing is not what I would call "US culture". The US does have some unique and special culture, but the superficial narcissism of the "look at me" crowd is not it. If you want to learn something uniquely American, read "William Diamond's Drum"
Sure sound like you're a first world problem kind of person. I'm sorry for you if you can't find anything useful on YT...
