The biggest mistake is not being in touch with reality. Trading successfully takes the equivalent of a college education to learn and then it's still tough to make it.
always traded too small until I met a guy who said: "always carry so much size that even thinking about it makes you puke over your shoes" Today I still carry that much except that I liquidate one contract to keep my shoes clean
That sounds like horrible advice. It's basically gambling as the likelihood of losing everything is relatively high with that strategy.
