Been saying this for four straight years now and have been wrong every year....but.....sooner or later, Emerging Markets are going to have a big bull market that sticks (unlike the China breakout that then crashed and burned in 2014). If you look at valuation spreads between USA and Brazil, Russia, China, etc, they are at the widest level in at least 25 years. Sooner or later, something has to give.
Semi stocks are at bubble. ADI, TXN,.... will tank. Boeing (BA) will do good. Bank stocks will be OK and Gold will shine again.
I like this idea.... we should check back in 1 year and see who was correct. Everyone should chip in a dollar per pick and winner gets the pot. Just for shits and giggles. My picks: BAC, UNG will be big winners in my opinion.
Besides that, I view it more like predicting who is going to win the Super Bowl at the beginning of the season. Will it have any influence on the outcome and should you bet on it with real money?? Probably not because that is gambling. But it still kinda fun to do and see who was closest.
Stocks often tip their hands very early in the year when they are about to go on a big run...I remember 2011 was a brutal year for Bank of America stock...then all of sudden it had 3 green daily closes to start 2012...it ran from $5.00 to $10.00 during that year. Also last year you guys may remember the entire market completely tanked to start the year, except gold mining stocks...they went on a huge run, starting week 1 in January. If you see anything that was a dog in 2016, take off starting January week 1, please let us know.
