I look at the case counts where Delta has spread, we follow the same lines. Cases are dropping across the country rapidly. It’s not because of a reduction/deaths among the unvaxxed. Really? The vast, vast percentage of people who get the virus, survive. The reality is the virus has pretty much burned its way through society. Depending on where you are, areas dealt with the virus differently. But regardless of the effort the numbers all follow the same spike and dip. There will come a point in time, soon, when the virus will be here but not that big of a deal. You won’t hear it in the news but you’ll notice it’s consuming absence in society, the people around you just won’t be sick with Covid. However, the pressure from the government will still remain. It's both, more people becoming vaccinated and those not vaccinated dying off along with them having access to antiviral therapeutic treatments. Maybe one day, we'll see over-the-counter Covid syrup, pills, and chewable medication in which we don't need a doctor's prescription. Society goes back to normal and then the next Pandemic hits...they've been occurring once or twice every 30 years. You fail to note that the states with large unvaccinated populations with minimal restrictions suffered far worst from Delta -- enduring higher rates of hospitalization and deaths than other states. In fact in states like Florida the daily death peaks and hospitalizations exceeded any previous peak. Along with the sad reality that over 95% of the hospitalizations and deaths were among the unvaccinated. Of course in a society that has not achieved herd immunity though vaccination there will be breakthrough cases based on the infectiousness of the disease and efficacy of vaccine. The breakthrough vaccination rate is only 0.5% -- however this could be avoided by achieving herd immunity via vaccination. As noted by researchers over 99% of the variants are generated in the unvaccinated who tend to be sicker for longer periods of time and more severely ill. It is likely that the next dangerous variant which becomes a "variant of concern" will come from an invaccinated individual. A variant -- coming from an unvaccinated person -- will likely be the next deadly Covid wave sweeping the earth. All of these outline why it is important for governments to mandate that people get vaccinated. This isn't only about an individual -- it is about the health of society as a whole. As well as returning to a normal life as soon as possible post pandemic.
