UNC and Duke Hospital Systems will fire all employees who refuse to get the vaccine in mid-September. Thousands of UNC, Duke hospital workers could lose jobs over refusal to get vaccinated https://www.wral.com/coronavirus/th...jobs-over-refusal-to-get-vaccinated/19863096/ Thousands of Duke University Health System and UNC Health workers could lose their jobs if they’re not vaccinated within two weeks. The two hospital systems were among several statewide that announced vaccine mandates for staff in July. Both Duke and UNC set Sept. 21 deadlines, saying employees could face termination if they didn't have their shots by then. Nearly 95 percent of Duke Health staff are either fully vaccinated, are set to receive their final vaccine dose before Sept. 21 or have been granted exemptions, spokeswoman Sarah Avery said Tuesday. But some 1,300 employees still haven't gotten their shots, she said. "We anticipate the vast majority of those remaining will meet the requirement by Sept. 21," Avery said in an email. At UNC Health, spokesman Alan Wolf said about 3,700 employees, or about 9 percent, still haven't confirmed that they are vaccinated or need an exemption for medical or religious reasons. "I’m not surprised. I’m disappointed," said Dr. Robin Peace, medical staff president at UNC Health Southeastern, in Lumberton. As a family medicine physician as well as a hospital executive, Peace has worked hard to get both patients and employees on board with vaccinations. "The majority of physicians in this country are in favor of being vaccinated," she said. "They are the best tool that we have to fight COVID." Peace said she believes young nurses and other health care workers are hesitant about getting vaccinated because they worry it will affect their fertility. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is currently no evidence that any of the available vaccines affect fertility. One Duke Health employee told WRAL News that he’s fed up with co-workers who still haven’t complied with the vaccination mandate. "I’m starting to become not as nice as I used to be about it," said the employee, who asked not to be identified. "I’m hopeful that almost all employers mandate it." Peace said she’s not sure what more she can do to persuade reluctant staff to get vaccinated by Sept. 21. She's also unsure how UNC Health Southeastern will operate if some of their employees are forced out after that. "It’s exhausting to us many times, but I try to remind my colleagues, as well as myself, that we cannot quit on the people who are unvaccinated," she said. "It’s not like we are not planning to replace all the staff we may be losing. I think all health care organizations are planning for whatever the situation is when Sept. 21 comes." Both Avery and Wolf said Duke Health and UNC Health remain committed to the Sept. 21 deadline. "Those that are hesitant within our health system, I think that maybe they are grouping together, hoping that deadline is extended," Peace said. "But I do not believe within UNC Health Southeastern that is going to be the case."

Would it be better if unvaccinated staff infected the patients. The huge majority of healthcare staff support mandatory vaccination. The healthcare executives view this as a good opportunity to identify and remove the staff which is too stupid to work there.
Staff have been infecting patients forever with all sorts of things. You have a poll or empirical data showing the "huge majority" of healthcare staff support mandatory vaccination?
Seeing that over 95% are vaccinated in most healthcare systems should be all the indication that is needed.
