Young Men & The will to work

Discussion in 'Economics' started by Sikhinvestor, Feb 13, 2009.

  1. Young men are and have been getting softer. I've been in construction most of my life, it is very hard to find American born hard workers. That is why the Mexicans in many areas are the preferred help. It isn't because they are cheaper, many times they are not, it is because they work will sweat, don't complain and work like our granddads did and like I did as a young man. There is some money in construction for a young man who can work his butt off and run a crew and stay away from the drugs and take care of his money. Those guys are very few and far between though.

  2. =====================
    LOL:D Warning that is a joke;
    do not try that in fundamentalist Islamic HOME unless it is in Israeli home :D

    True ,some women in workplace are as Hillary Clinton-- loud, stubborn,Jezebel troublemaker.....................................

    But women seem to do well in nursing[thank God];
    women tend to do well in real estate, sales, especially residental RE........................................................................................

    Neo man maybe exstinct[spell checkkkker is also];
    but not the male hunter/gatherer.

    Even President Barak noted the wisdom of the hunter/gather-man. Remember he said recently Abraham Lincoln let them keep thier horses, & keep firearms to shoot crows.

    Since most people in Ameica moved away from the farm[1930's+];
    should note people still use firearms to shoot crows-corn pests:cool:

  4. You just don't get it, do you?

    Number of available workforce greatly exceeds the number of jobs.

    Many simply don't have a choice of whether to accept Obama's checks or not. There is such a thing as the underprivilieged class. It's most of the world.
    The smarter ones will join the underground economy. The harder working ones, but not as ballsy will perform low end low wage jobs. The rest will slowly perish.

  5. Hmm, from what I have learned is that it's a basic concept of Union versus Non-union.

    The union guys are reliable due to standards but are spoiled and often act like premadonnas.
    The mexicans are cheaper, have no ego complexes, but are not as reliable.

    Hard blue collar work is not something that is promoted in this nation. All the kids want to be rock stars, sport stars, actors or Wall Street Ganstaz.

  8. Well said, the UK (I speak as a former lecturer) is becoming this way. But as a lazy trader I cannot criticise too much. Maybe it's just the way society is becoming: fat and decadent, the beginning of the end?)

    cap'n

  9. I've never heard this "reason" for becoming a trader before. My guess is you are still a noob or a long term break even at best guy. How can one succeed in anything if their reason for doing it is entirely unrelated to the task itself?

    Strange reason my friend.

    PS I decided to take up scuba diving because I like peanuts. And also started playing raquetball because I enjoy a good book :D
