Sometimes it is. Yeah, I know, it's aggravating when the world is more complicated than a simplistic philosophy allows for. Deal with it. It's the only way to truly learn.

  2. Well obviously by your own admission you don't even try so is it really all that surprising that you lack your "proof"?

  3. It isn't about your childhood instruction and it isn't about "getting educated".

    It's about gaining wisdom.

Your statement is fundamentally untrue. This thread's basis was not founded on the fact there is no god. The OP's opening statement confirms it wasn't.

Your argument is pure and simply a logical fallacy described as an argument from ignorance. The premise of this thread was about churches foreclosing. It's your subsequent argument about -God cannot be disproved- which is irrelevant. It is based on a fallacy.

I don't know or care what the OP's overall intent was. Someone asked him and he made it perfectly clear what his intent was, and it was nothing like what you are subsequently saying it is.

I see now you've made a mistake but can't own up to it. Perhaps because your religious convictions forbid recognition of anything that criticizes them.

Obviously faith in a higher power is being woefully overestimated, as it is not extending to the bailing out of churches from foreclosing.
A little quantitative fleecing of the flock might have helped rather than relying on the obvious and woeful inadeqacies of religious faith to avoid the impending stony ground which apparently now awaits those churches.

The only thing missing here is your acknowledgment of the false statement you made and soon, a whole bunch of churches too by the sound of things.

Apparently the religious argument goes... I don't know therefore God.

So it's scarcely about gaining wisdom.

  6. Apparently the atheistic argument goes ... I have no clue therefore God does not exist and I will ridicule those who think otherwise.

or Religious traditions won't endorse my chosen perversion /behavior (homosexuality, leftism) therefore God does not exist.

  7. you are right. you have convinced me that maybe i am wrong. i have decided to crack open one of my bibles and gain some wisdom. we both agree that if the bible is the word of god it must be chock full of wisdom and knowledge. here is what i found:

    Deuteronomy 22:28-29
If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

"Women should be silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak, but should be submissive, as the law also says." (1 Corinthians 14:34)

"Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered? Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her as a covering." (1 Corinthians 11:13-15)

"If any man takes a wife, and goes in on her, and detests her, and charges her with shameful conduct, and brings a bad name on her, and says,'I took this woman, and when I came to her I found she was not a virgin..." (Deuteronomy 22:13,14)

But if ... evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones..." (Deuteronomy 22:20,21)

Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the cruel. " (1 Peter 2:18)

    (Exodus 21:20-21 )
When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property.

As you approach a town to attack it, first offer its people terms for peace. If they accept your terms and open the gates to you, then all the people inside will serve you in forced labor. But if they refuse to make peace and prepare to fight, you must attack the town. When the LORD your God hands it over to you, kill every man in the town. But you may keep for yourselves all the women, children, livestock, and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you.

    Galatians 5:12
I wish those who unsettle you would castrate themselves!

    wow. talking donkeys: Numbers 22:29-30
Balaam answered the donkey, "You have made a fool of me! If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now." The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?" "No," he said.

    Isaiah 36:12
But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you

    Leviticus 26:29
You shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.

    Deuteronomy 25:11-12
If men get into a fight with one another, and the wife of one intervenes to rescue her husband from the grip of his opponent by reaching out and seizing his genitals, you shall cut off her hand; show no pity.
