In the bible Absalom did something similar. He hired 50 men to walk in front of him as he rode on his chariot. That garnered lots of attention. Then he gave many of them attention back (not unlike that guy taking pictures with everyone and being very friendly) Absalom gathered so much support so quickly he was easily able to take the capitol away from King David without a fight because the people loved Absalom so much.
If the people of the old bible were so "great", how come the Egyptians left the great pyramids and other great things we can see to this day, while the supposedly great people of the bible (who lived after the egyptians) did not leave even a small a piece of shit about their life.
