OK, let me try this again. When someone has power, they are not going to relinquish that power. Education has been dominated by liberals for centuries. Banking they are probably evenly split. Advertising and entertainment (gays and jews). Seriously?

Look, let me explain something to you RCG since you claim 100 times a day to be a libertarian yet are confused by what libertarians actually are. People on the right "tend" to be individualists. People on the left "tend" to be collectivists. Collectivists seek power in groups. That is how they get their power. They believe in the many. People on the right tend to focus on individual empowerment. They don't seek to run "groups". Who is John Galt?

Exactly how global warming got labeled a hoax. Your principle there should be taken into consideration when we listen to big oil.

  4. Oh, I get that. But i see most of the right as individualists who continuously whine about the state of the nation, and yet, claim to be the majority. True individualists are rather unconcerned about what does not impact them directly. So the bevy of conservative organizations out there are not trying to seek power by forming groups? Get serious, Mav.

RCG, you are mixing a lot of different people into the same group. Not all conservatives are individualists! Certainly the religious right is not. You can't just throw everyone into the same boat. You asked a specific question and I gave you a specific answer.

The reason these individualists are "whining" as you put it, is because it is the power of the collectivists are impeding the individual rights of those individuals. Ron Paul talks about this all the time. Many refer to it as economic fascism. Everything affects everybody. You know that RCG. It's not a matter of caring about things that don't matter to you. Some call that the "butterfly" effect.

I have to admit, it's frustrating to hear you label yourself a libertarian yet champion collectivism. Oil and water buddy.

What are you implying with this statement?

Are individualists supposed to lack concern when their individualism is being taken away from the government?

I can promise you that you would never hear a single peep from a true conservative/libertarian, if the government butted out of their life and left them alone.

  8. I do not champion collectivism. However, civilization is built on systems and these systems must be maintained. In a representative republic, the majority gets to make the rules. If conservatives are truly the majority, why do they not make the rules? It really is a simple question. What you cannot do is bring yourself to admit the conservatives are not the majority. There is no silent majority.

"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me."
