Best Advice I have ever heard. I take my profits and re-invest them back into my business and take those profits and reinvest them back into the market and so goes the vicious cycle. LOL Current project.... Publish and market a book... goal: to sell 10,000 copies over the next 12 months
Agreed. Not because I believe his profitable trading won't last. In fact, I hope it will. But he is very young and there is a lot in this world that he can be exposed to, college is one way of doing so, traveling is another. Just so long as he doesn't get complacent. I
I think you need another *white* token. Your assumed business risk is parity -- hardly the case. You should try reading books instead of writing.
Hey Wallnbroad, Woah your post sparks lotsa replies, I would say if u are profitable in trading,, u shouldn't be looking for a Job, Its not about a degree or MBA or such. You trade and earn big bucks under your terms at your own will, with no boss or politics. Isnt that the best we can achieve in the world? YOU ARE YOUR OWN BOSS dude.!!! A degree is always good, it proof on paper that you are a SMART with some degree of intellectual skills LOL. which is true, cos in colleague university, you will need you brain cell to work on all subjects, be it boring or interesting to u. I am not a pro Trader as yet, But I would like to be one in future and being able to mentor newbie traders, and thereby receiving a small token as my residue income,, where my main source of income still coming from Trading,, YEAH!!!!!!!
It depends upon if the entrepreneurial route or institutional route is favored by the individual. To be a great trader, it helps to have a high iq, creativity, and an unusual combination of risk appetite self discipline/control. This is true regardless of all else. In any entrepreneurial field, if one has enough of such qualities, they need not justify their path to anyone. The only downside of formal education is to some extent it can be a program of regurgitation and conformity. If one can be excellent in these areas and soak up the useful knowledge/skills while at the same time increasing creative/intellectual independence, that is the material a great trader is made out of.
giles117: <i>"This may get me yelled at, but in my business, being that I am BLACK, I hired a token "white" to get certain clientele. If you need credibility. Hire it. Unfortunately we are still in a racially idiotic america where a white face = trustworthy/educated and a black face = potential thief."</i> Sure, that's usually the case when you're dealing with old codgers... but almost everyone GenX or younger is free from such detrimental biases. The good news is that the older, racist business people are retiring/dying out, so every year you can expect to face a little less irrational discrimination than the year before. Reaver: <i>"Tell us more about this guy you know named R.M......sounds like a cool motherfucker." </i> Hook N. Sinker: <i> "I want to hear more also. Sounds like an exciting story."</i> Thanx for your interest! I actually put up a little bio here last year: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1099141&highlight=stint#post1099141 I'd also like to add that while certain motivated individuals have no personal need for a college education, modern society certainly does need well educated people! Physicians, engineers, scientists, geologists, etc... How would you get an emergency appendix removal in a society where no one went to college? Some turd world societies fit that description, and relying on the surgical skills of the local witch-doctor usually isn't going to cut it. One more thing: Making millions of dollars for yourself is cool, but successfully coming up with the cure for a major disease would be one hell of a lot cooler! Sometimes I wonder if I could have <b><i>really</b></i> made something of myself, had I been given the opportunity of a real education at the right age.
Thanks for the info Rearden.... Remember, just as society needs people in school to be able to research for cures, etc....they also need funding... You could probably help out with that part.... I know I'll be hooking it up when the time comes. I am a big softie for the Humane Society, but will expand my horizons as my monetary abilities allow.
<i>"Remember, just as society needs people in school to be able to research for cures, etc....they also need funding... You could probably help out with that part...."</i> --->Yeah, I've thought about that a lot. I still need to get beyond 'entry-level rich' to make the kind of impact I have in mind. <i>"I am a big softie for the Humane Society, but will expand my horizons as my monetary abilities allow."</i> --->We really do have a ton in common- I give more to animal welfare charities than all the other causes combined. One thing though: Have you spent much time personally dealing with the Humane Society? It may be just a local thing, but the Humane Society facility in Milwaukee has a ton of stupid & unnecessarily strict rules and regulations- Totally incompatible with independent maverick types like us. I just wanted to take a couple bunnies out of their cages to hold them and decide if I wanted to adopt... and was totally treated like a child. (No, that would be against our rules. You'd need to schedule an appointment with an adoption counselor in order to do that. Care to fill out the forms?)
