Giles, You are correct. Many people are so wrapped up and brainwashed by everything they have no idea what that statement means. They can't possibly understand the concept of being UNHAPPY in going to college or the desire to strike out on your own. They have been bagged and tagged by society. You mention music being a passion....I'd say it's the same artistic mindset that makes you a good musician that makes you want to be your own person no matter what the risk. I've always been artistic as well in conventional art and music, and I have noticed other artistic people that tend to have the same mentality. Not trying to sound crazy or anything, but I'd go out on a limb and say Icarus has some experience in some form of art as well that he excels at. Willing to put money on it. Some people are simply unable to understand what makes someone want to be their own person no matter what it takes. I remember something from an Alice In Chains song, Nutshell...if I can't be my own I'd feel better dead. Not trying to be dramatic, but it's true. It is a mindset that some of us have. The day I got my DD214 from the military I knew I wasn't cut out to work for civilians for one day longer than was necessary to get my own show on the road.
LOL, thanks for the support TJ. Hey if they want to go to college, I say let'em. Just remember, they're being trained to be tools, not traders. I
True. College doesn't make a trader, but it makes a trader more easily employable to trade real $$. Am I wrong?
Exactly, I am not knocking college, just saying it ain't the end all be all. You'll never learn to outthink general society when you are being taught the same thing as everyone else in the exact same fashion. It's a simple concept. College grads who succeed as real traders probably already had it in them with or without college.
Good point. Like I was saying to Giles, those who don't know will never understand unless they figure it out of their own accord.
Depends on if you want to work FOR SOMEONE ELSE trading SOMEONE ELSE'S MONEY or not. If you want to be employed as a trader for someone else, then yes, it probably wouldn't hurt.... But then again, if you show a kick ass track record, I think your degree would be the least important factor in someone giving you money to trade.
I have one question with regards to this. Is education something you get in college or is it something you pursue in life.... My Kids are encouraged to achieve education regardless. They know they can go to college and it's paid for. They also know they don't have to if they dont want to. I have an aspiring Chef, writer, Bass & Lead guitar player. And thats just one of them. I cant imagine people ever stopping eating. So cooks wont be obsolete anytime soon. LOL... I have a 14 year old trader in waiting. We have a deal. If He hustles and earns 3K I'll match it and open him a trading account. He has his goal for next summer. They, together, have already run 2 businesses when they were 3, 5, 8, 10, 12 and 13. If you TRAIN them to be ambitious, they will. This verse applies: Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. So if your example is a slackers example, they will be slackers. Gnome... You'll raise Gnomes. and so on..
Every post on this thread by every hungry trader is a lesson. We never ask anyone to teach us, we work like a dog to figure it out for ourselves and look for traders who have similar experiences to confirm what we already know. I
