Good trading guys. I've been scaling in short since 10485. Not a pretty picture thus far for my PnL. Looking better though.
3 trades: Long ~10465, exit ~10515 (including partial exiting and re-entry), (+50ticks) Short ~10523, quick to stopout (-5ticks) Attempt again at Short ~10518 and scaled-out on the way down (+15ticks)
I didn't feel good today *worse in school*, but I got home and the price was at resistance so I shorted and exited as soon as I hit 20 points. So my 20 point goal was hit right on. EDIT: 20 Points total is my goal, not 20 points per contract, and 20 points total is what I got. If I felt a little bit better, could have shorted it closer to 10530, and waited for the drop down to 10490. And I know people discourage setting a specific goal, but I feel that having a goal is a good way to judge performance, I know I easily would expect to surpass this goal, but, I just feel better knowing that I'm aiming for something and if I reach it... good job, if not, then it motivates me to do better. That's all folks. Calling the broker tomorrow to see if they got my funds yet.
JM I think setting a goal is great; also it might not be a bad idea to set a stop loss goal ie if you lose 20 points then you call it quits for the day.
Just checking out the P&L thread on the journals page. Just wondering... what is the biggest $$ gain for everyone in a single day. Around the equity trading, I guess it could average to around $200 - $500 per day, but some guys seem to pull in 30k in a single day. In simulated trading (Back when I was making 30 or so trades a day), I made around 1,900. But haven't touched it again. But I see some people up here trade 10 contracts. So just curious what is your biggest day? It seems like futures traders would have an edge in this area.
well JM it all depends on how much money you are investing. Probably shouldnt compare yourself to people with millions that can invest. Consistant gains is what we want based on our investment size.
Two or three weeks ago we had a good discussion on a thread talking about our biggest daytrade wins and losses, many of us contributed and was a nice piece of reading if you are interest, the problem is that I cannot seem to be able to remember under which forum it is subscribed, so I cannot post the link. Maybe someone else can point it out for you.
hi mtzianos nice trading ! do you usually only trade the afternoon ? what type of timeframe works best for you during the day ? even using the indicators I follow I could not have done much better than that in that timeframe
