Frugi - Thanks for posting your charts on the YM. I noticed you use Bracket Trader. Are you pleased with that program attached to IB? Does it work consistently? Anyone else use the BT/IB set up? I am looking at switching either to the BT/IB set-up or TradeMaven (which also offers OCO bracket orders). Sandy
porgie i'd expect nothing more from you as i'm sure you're always on the right side and you never got stopped on these 20-30 pt blink mopves
Fed said inflation from the Hurricanes is bad for the American Economy in the long term... eventhough it would be a boost in the short term... Thus, YM went up (in the short term) and came back down (to account for the inflation worries in the long term). You gotta know how to trade the announcements.
Sandy, I am very pleased with BT and it works consistently and swiftly. IMHO well worth the small once off fee (or free if you can put up with the hideous noise it makes - but this can be hacked with a resource editor, or simply turn your PC sound down!) However there are a couple of things of which you should be aware. (by the way if I'm wrong about the below I'd love to know). 1. If you place a limit buy or sell order then it does not transmit the bracket stop/limit orders until you are filled. So if IB TWS was to go down while the limit was in place, and then it was filled, you would have no loss protection as the stop would not have been transmitted to IB. 2. If you do not have sufficient margin to trade the elected number of contracts then it is possible to be filled on a portion of your order without any stops being transmitted. e.g you try to buy 5, only got margin for 4, you get filled on 4 and then BT leaves you "naked", although there is an error message to alert you to this. I've been caught out like this after 3.45pm when the margin reqs. double. 3. The Chat Room Trade poster doesn't work properly. Alternatives are zerolinetrader, ninjatrader, buttontrader etc. but I liked the simplicity of BT and so far it hasn't let me down, been using it for about 4 months now. Beats TWS hotkeys anyway. Also the bloke who wrote it is pretty active in the support forum and does actually listen to suggestions, bug reports etc.
