YM Traders

  1. IMO, posting live trades in real-time is best done in a IRC chat-room (or other RT technology like IM etc), otherwise it's distracting.

There are many (100+) trading rooms in Othernet and one can start his own at any moment.

There are even scripts which automate posting of trading signals (initiation, PT, SL) in IRC. I've never used them (as I keep trading on different PC), but there are people in ET who do use such scripts to post live trades in IRC.

  2. Agree...anything can be doctored with a decent image editing program...many are free.

Yet, it is a lot more difficult to doctor a realtime trade post while others saw the trade get posted in comparison to a blotter that was posted long after the fact.

However, if someone wants to post realtime trades...

IRC is more suitable for such and not the method being used in this thread.

Personally, its all an ego trip if someone isn't willing to share some basic info about the trades if questions are asked.

    Yep,

    Also, to those reading this...

Here's the direct link to setting up your own free YM trading room.

    http://cservice.othernet.org/?page=csregister

You can then keep out those that are unwilling to post their trades or kick (remove) those that are becoming an eye sore (other members complaining) with their comments.

Further, there are many different types of trade posting script floating around freely out there for use.

Yet, the a trade posting script isn't useful if trades are posted minutes after the fact.

Here's an example (ET members alias blacken out) of what an IRC trade post sript looks like via YM trades posting in a room on October 7th Friday...

    <img src=http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/attachment.php?s=&postid=862693>

There are also private trade posting scripts (hard to find) that are 3rd party apps that post trades as they occur in your broker execution platform.

The only ones I've heard that are available work with IB TWS.

Hopefully more will become available with other brokers.

By the way...ET has a chat room but you'll be mixed in with everyone else trading other trading instruments.

    Exactly.

Anything posted on cyberspace (blotters, statements, realtime trades, discussions) should be taken with a grain of salt.

Thus, if someone truly wants or needs proof of anybody trading ability...

They better get off their lazy butt and go sit by that trader (in person) and watch him/her trade...

Bring your lunch and laptop

    Stockripper,

Seconds mean nothing when a poster is taking overnight trades and posting them real time as they are not looking for a quick scalp.

The last trade I posted on here took about an hour and a half to net 40 points. I challenge you to go back and check any trade I have ever posted on here against the chart. Seconds you say, you can get the data in 10 seconds intervals if that floats your boat. Feel free to check my trades.

I agree that posting trades only helps new traders when you offer commentary on why you are in the trade. That is why you often see me post reasons for taking the trade, or patterns that I see intraday. As far as the chatroom, I have done it in the past and it pretty much ends up looking like this thread with a bunch of noise to filter through, but someone set it up and I will be there. As far as an EGO TRIP, I will leave that term for those who CHARGE people for their services.

  4. Most likely you were in a room that either wasn't well moderated or no longer met your chat room needs.

With that said...you can setup your own room and manage it to reduce the noise level whenver it reaches a level you consider to be either an eye sore or distraction.

It's free and will take up less time it took you to write your prior post

    http://cservice.othernet.org/?page=csregister

In addition...here are easy tips for keeping a chat room useful with good members:

    * Require users to post their trades

    * Password protect it while keeping it free

    * Those that violate any noise level rules after a few warnings...get rid of them

    * Make use of the "ignore" feature or "voice" feature to get contol the noise level

Now...if you don't want to manage the room...hand it over to someone that does and is willing to moderate it for you.

However, complaining about what another trader is saying and have no way of preventing such in the future...that can be a distraction and will increase the noise level...

Same noise level you mentioned in this thread.

Also, since you mentioned that if someone else sets it up for you...

I can do that for you guys that don't have the time to do it yourself and then hand over the password info to one of the active participants in this thread...

That way you'll be completely in control.

You can then keep it either public (anyone can log in) or private (password required).

It will also take the Othernet folks about 24hrs to reply with a notification to confirm the room has a registered X in it for room management.

Yet, if the person with the control doesn't log in for 20 days...the room becomes unregistered and that allows anyone to take control.

Best to make several moderators instead of just one.

However, you can setup your own room on Othernet without even registering...

    It's even faster.

PM me if you want me to set it up for you along with a name recommendation for the room...

It'll take me a few minutes and I'll send you the registration info as soon as the Othernet folks reply back to me (within 24hrs).

I just can't imagine any advantage to posting trades in this thread at ET in comparison to using a trade posting script that gets the job done faster and with a proper accurate time stamp...

Along with keeping an easy read journal for any viewer.

You can even set it up to work with your broker execution platform (IB users) if you can get your hands on the proper trade posting script for relaying trades as they occur to IRC.

  10. Hmmm...

Are you saying the reason why you don't post your trades in realtime and the reason why you don't share any helpful insights about your trade methodology is because your a successful/smart trader ???

Also, is this the same DB that once tried posting his trades in realtime in ET chat and stated that the reason why he stopped doing it was because nobody showed up ???

Is this the same DB that shared (gave away) all what he knew about supply/demand...the same info that was the reason behind his trades ???

Is this the same DB that shared (gave away) inaccurate info about candlestick patterns in his supply/demand threads ???

If this is the same DB...

One of the few things I liked about DB was that he was one of the few traders here at ET that was willing to freely share his methodology for all those willing to read and analyze it.

I also liked the fact that he freely shared lots of chart examples.

He also didn't have a problem with others doing the same as long as they didn't do such in threads he shared (gave away) info.

    Last of all...its a myth that successful/smart traders don't share !!!
