  1. laurana,

    Looks like your paper trades hit their stops today.
    :(

    What time frames are you using to make your decisions? Daily, 60m, 30m?

    Most recent closed trade :

    -2 @ 10879, stopped out at 10978
    -1 @ 10919 stopped out at 10978
    -1 @ 10960 stopped out at 10978

    Total ticks :-275 + (4 x -3) = - 287 ticks(include slippage and comm)

    open position and their stops:

    -

    Queued limit and stop orders :

    -

    Stats :

    P/L : -287 ticks
    Total Trade : 1
    Win:Loss = 0:1

    My thoughts :

    Very discouraging first trade. Eager to make first trade in my journal. Bad entry and stop pair. Did not activate soft(mental) stop and allow price to hit hard stop. Unmonitored limit order entry may not be good enough, will attempt limit order + monitored market order for entry.

    MDT:
    Yup, discouraging, but will continue on! I did not use fixed time frames but switched around with the time frames just to make sure the portion I want to see fits onto my screen. Decisions made is based on patterns I see on the screen and is pure discretional. Testing it out, not doing well as you can see.

    Thanks for the sim link.

  7. =================
    My thoughts;
    Like to papertrade ES emini, even while i have realtime positions on.Take some paper trades that arent as hi-% as real time.

    Dont be discouraged 1 realtime win or papertrade loss doesnt mean much;
    however like to paper trade ,as realistically as realtime;
    cut back on contracts quick when i lose.:cool:

    Usually dont papertrade or realtime trade last half hour;
    even though i dont have a rule agaist it.

    Cutting back on contracts when losing is one of the most helpful things;wins add on normal size[paper or realtime]

  8. How does the mini-dow behave in relation to the underlying Dow index?

    The S&P emini price action is nearly identical to the S&P index. Is this true for the mini-dow / Dow index as well?

    I seem to remember greater divergence on charts that I've peeked at.

    Thanks.
