Maybe so, but it's easier to stretch a dollar elsewhere when everyone's sick.

Please explain why you think that the Fed lowers interest rates and what impact the Fed expects it to have on the economy when it does lower the fed funds rate.

  3. You really have to stop this conspiracy nonsense. While the relationship is varied and "interesting", the Board does not "answer to the primary dealers". That's just a silly thing to say.

The premise of this thread is that it's the Fed's fault that we have a large national debt and somehow the lack of a firm debt ceiling is also to blame, not the congress and president who authorized the spending that incurred. That's an idiotic position borne out of profound ignorance, and nothing said here supports it.
The reason the Fed lowers interest rates and the impact they expect to have on the economy are no mystery, they're plainly spelled out in the fed meeting minutes. You have read those, right? If you had read them, you'd realize that again, you have the causality upside down. It may very well be that in a specific situation the debt generated by congress and the president causes the economy to slow down and the Fed lowers interest rates in response to that slowing economy. I'm not sure we have a case of that yet, but even if we had that in no way means the Fed caused the debt. It's especially rich that you all are arguing about the Fed causing our debt while we have a Congress and President as we speak trying to add trillions to the debt. Where's your outrage about that?
We could have an interesting discussion about enablers. If you were arguing that the Fed is like an enabler in a relationship with an addict you might have a point. But again with another analogy, the addict is the addict, not the enabler, and the rant that started this post is unquestionably unsupportable.

If you're talking actually moving to one of those places vice just investing that's a very good point.

If you'd ever worked with the Fed you'd know that statement you made was, as @Martinghoul nicely stated, silly. So I based my assertion on evidence you provided. If you indeed have that experience and are still spouting this nonsense, then you're either being disingenuous or unhinged, either way not worthy of a continued conversation. An assumption of innocent ignorance is clearly the kindest given those choices.

Your "formal education" accusation was completely gratuitous or even worse based on the fact that I called BS on your BS. So as I tell my kids, check yourself before you wreck yourself.

I tell you what, how about you, me, and Martinghoul meet at the Grassy Knoll in Dallas next Tuesday, Dec 5th. It turns out that the Grassy Knoll is exactly .5 miles from the Dallas Fed as the crow flies, and Dec 5th is exactly 50 years from when Kennedy was assassinated, going by the Muslim calendar. Which is appropriate since he was killed by the Muslims, from Dearborn where they've got Sharia law going on. The ring leaders were Hussein Obama's father, also a muslim and of course Ted Cruz's father, a well-known Chicago socialist who happens to also be Ken Griffin's godfather. What are the chances of all that lining up if it wasn't true?

Once we get there, Martinghol, who it turns out is old as fuck, can explain to you how he's the stagehand reflected in Gene Cernan's visor in the Apollo 16 hoax moon landing. I'll explain how even the most experienced pilot couldn't hit a 1,500' by 1,500' foot structure like the Pentagon, and that pilots only manage to routinely hit the 150' wide touchdown zone at nearby Reagan Airport using secret technology that actually flies the plane itself that the Wright brothers obtained from an alien they called "the devil". Not for nothing the area where they found the alien is still under government control and called "Kill Devil Hills".

Finally, you can explain to us how the fed board members only answer to the primary dealers. Which sounds pretty far fetched to me, but sometimes you've gotta open your mind to really understand the conspiracies going on all around us, so I look forward to your explanation. See you there?

  8. I'm in, although you've forgotten my fav subject, @Sig... We will also need to discuss that Britney Spears is actually an extraterrestrial alien.

  9. Some conspiracy theories are true but I am not saying that this one is.

Islamisation is true for example. They want to spread the religion to the whole world.
I am talking about this because someone mentioned earlier about Obama being a Muslim.

In the name of war and seeking refuge, it's a way for them to spread the religion.

That's as much a conspiracy as the Christian requirement of "spreading the word of our Lord and savior".
