The has been endless prattle that they residents of Gaza deserve what is happening to them because they voted for for Hamas. Well this is not the reality.

Back in 2005, Israel left Gaza, dismantled 21 settlements and allowed the Palestinians to take over. In 2007, after Fatah lost the legislative election, the "Battle of Gaza" occurred in June. "Hamas fighters took control of the Gaza Strip, while Fatah officials were either taken as prisoners, executed or expelled.[3][4] The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights reported that at least 161 people were killed and more than 700 were wounded during the fighting.[5]"

It should also be noted that Hamas also intimidated the Gaza residents in the election by executing Fatah candidates & their supporters, and effectively (and literally in some cases) pointed a gun to the heads of people as they voted in Gaza.

Bottom line, Hamas took over Gaza via violent force -- not via any type of Democratic voting process.

The people of Gaza did not vote for Hamas to represent them. Also noting that a large portion of the population of Gaza was born after 2007. Many of the residents of Gaza do not support Hamas but they are trapped living under Hamas' brutality and terrorism.

If Hamas is eliminated by Israel then hopefully a more effective and peaceful governing entity can be established in Gaza. However, unfortunately, in the short term there will be many civilian casualties in Gaza as the war escalates.

Can't make an omelette eh? Well as long as you have decided it is an unfortunate necessity we can all breath a sigh it is for the greater good and it won't just respawn Hamas/worse because Israel has a really good plan now for the Palestinians.

I guess you have details on their plan? The one that will fix everything?

“It’s a dysfunctional government, all these extremist parties, they should leave and let capable people handle this terrible thing,” said Daphna Cohen, who carried an Israeli flag and a banner calling for Netanyahu’s resignation.

She told CNN that while she has been attending protests against the prime minister for years, this time feels different.

“I have never felt such rage and hatred towards a person since I was born. And I’m 66 I don’t remember myself feeling what I feel about this person, the f****** Bibi, there is no other word for him,” she said.

“He doesn’t take responsibility and I don’t believe he cares but for himself, even in those difficult times. He’s the criminal who’s capable to take us to the drain,” she said.

Meanwhile, several foreign governments have gotten involved in the efforts to free the hostages. Qatar has been in talks with Hamas and the US has been coordinating with the Qataris as they play a key mediating role with Hamas, a senior US official and another person familiar with the discussions told CNN.

It's been very frustrating for GWB that I see when he has introduced his own opinion statement into some quoted material, just trying to sneak it through.

A leopard can't change his spots, exactly what he used to do when near every post of his resulted in somebody asking SOURCE??

Well they say leopard but... There weren't any well fed and baldy leopard pics.

Let's see what Human Rights Watch had to say in 2009 about Hamas imposing terror on the Palestinian residents of Gaza -- including executions, torture, and abuse.

The first step toward peace is completely eliminating Hamas as a government and military entity in Gaza. Sadly this will lead to more civilian casualties since Hamas is urging Gaza residents to not move to the south because the terror group wants to use them as human shields.

Now he is repeating the same stuff, imagining he is dispensing wisdom. I've often thought this is where the yellow streak down the back started.

Not much courage but VERY persistent.

This Washington Post article touches on poiunt number 8 -- What is the desired end game? and at what cost.

Israeli ground offensive in Gaza could be a ‘bloodbath,’ analysts say
As Gazans flee south, Israel’s military leadership plans a broad offensive. But experts in urban warfare caution that the terrain is troublesome and the endgame uncertain.
