Hamas Accuses Israel of Nearly 270 Ceasefire Violations in New Report
    Feb 11, 2025

By Tom O'Connor Senior Writer, Foreign Policy & Deputy Editor, National Security and Foreign Policy

Hamas has accused Israel of violating their three-week ceasefire agreement 269 times as the Palestinian group faces renewed pressure from President Donald Trump to move forward with the release of hostages.

In a report shared with Newsweek by a senior leader of the group on Tuesday, Hamas claimed that Israeli operations since the deal that was entered implementation last month have resulted in 26 deaths, 59 injuries, 105 aircraft violations, 36 gunfire violations, 29 ground incursions, nine instances of "bombardment" and the detention of five Palestinians drivers and fishermen.

Hamas provided an even higher figure of 92 Palestinians killed and 822 wounded since the ceasefire agreement began on January 19 in a separate statement.

The Hamas report also alleged that Israel had delayed by six hours the third release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for Hamas-held hostages and had "forcibly deported" them to Gaza "without coordination and confirmation of their wishes." Israel also restricted family members, including those from the West Bank, from visiting the freed detainees and delayed providing a list of 400 Palestinian prisoners, according to the report.

Hamas went on to further accuse Israel of providing less than half of the agreed fuel into Gaza and only about a quarter of the tents outlined in their deal. The group alleged that Israel failed to permit the entry of other forms of needed supplies and assistance.

The group also cited Trump's proposal to remove the entire population of Gaza and tacit support from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in arguing that the two nations were not committed to carrying out the second and third phases of the ceasefire that would put a lasting end to the war.

Among the "political violations" listed in the report were "continued political statements by [the] Israeli Prime Minister and ministers openly calling for the expulsion of Gaza's population, sending a clear message that the occupation does not wish to honor the agreement and aims to implement Trump's plan to displace Gaza's residents." The document claimed Israel had pursued a "deliberate delay in the second phase and the introduction of impossible conditions."

Newsweek has reached out to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for comment.

In a shock announcement on February 4 after meeting Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu in Washington, Trump proposed resettling Gaza’s 2.2 million Palestinians and the US taking control of the seaside enclave, redeveloping it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Trump: “I would own this. Think of it as a real estate development for the future. It would be a beautiful piece of land. No big money spent,” he told Fox.

Netanyahu, who praised the proposal, suggested Palestinians would be allowed to return. “They can leave, they can then come back, they can relocate and come back. But you have to rebuild Gaza,” he said the day after Trump’s announcement.

Riiiiight I love the bs, the Palestinian people who as we all know are filthy rich, will be allowed to return to Gaza, the Riviera of the Middle East.
They'll be ok bringing their tents to camp in the parks and streets.

Cairo/Jerusalem | Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday (Wednesday AEDT) that if Hamas did not release Israeli hostages by noon on Saturday a fragile ceasefire in Gaza would end and the Israeli army would resume its offensive in the Palestinian enclave until the militant group is defeated.

    ..................................
Bibi, itching to start the bombing all over again.
Israel, the nation which "just wants to live in peace with its neighbours".
"We'll bomb the shit into peace".

At this point the restart of the war appears imminent. This time there will be no restraints on Israel. They will cut off all electricity, communications, food aid, and water in Gaza -- while having a no holds barred Hamas hunt through all of Gaza. This is what happens when Hamas does not live up to the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

Lavrov says Israel considers all Palestinians in Gaza to be ‘terrorists’, even children August 28, 2024

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday that Israeli leaders consider all Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to be “terrorists”, including children. Lavrov made his comment during a joint press conference following a meeting with Yemeni Foreign Minister Shaye Al-Zindani in Moscow.

The Russian minister remarked on the developments in the Middle East and said that “not everyone” wants a ceasefire. “Some parties involved in the conflict want to continue fighting because it serves their interest. They [want] to keep the situation violent and do not want a settlement, hoping for changes in the political scene.”

He claimed that Israel wants to wait for the US presidential election in the hope that it will “remove the weight of pressure from the international community” to end the war in the Gaza Strip.

Lavrov pointed out that Russia condemned the attack on 7 October, but noted that so far more than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed, most of them women and children, which is a collective punishment that is both illegal and a violation of international humanitarian law.

He referred to statements by Israeli military leaders that “There are no civilians [in Gaza]” and “Everyone over the age of three is a terrorist.” The Russian official described such statements as “very dangerous,” and said that he would advise the Israelis “to avoid these ideas and ideology.”

As I stated multiple times -- the only realistic path forward is a peace based on a two-state solution. The statements coming out of Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region underline this. Deporting all the Palestinians out of Gaza is not an option.

Saudi Arabia Underscores Centrality of Palestinian Cause

The Saudi government underscored on Tuesday the centrality of the Palestinian cause, reiterating its firm rejection of extremist Israeli statements on the displacement of the Palestinian people.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Riyadh.

The ministers stressed that lasting peace in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict can only be achieved through the acceptance of peaceful coexistence based on a two-state solution.

Crown Prince Mohammed briefed the ministers on the telephone calls he held with Jordan’s King Abdullah II and United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the cabinet reviewed updates on the work of several joint committees between Saudi Arabia and other countries. It highlighted key initiatives to strengthen cooperation and friendship, expand relations and achieve mutual interests and benefits across various fields.

The cabinet also reviewed the Kingdom’s leading role in multilateral organizations and their affiliated bodies, highlighting Saudi Arabia’s election as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA).

The election is a testament to the international community’s recognition of the Kingdom’s efforts and global standing, it remarked.

On the domestic level, the cabinet discussed the Kingdom’s comprehensive developmental momentum to empower promising and emerging sectors. It welcomed the launch of the King Salman Automotive Cluster, which is expected to support economic diversification efforts, enhance non-oil GDP, and advance the goals of the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program.

The cabinet praised the completion of the Fiscal Sustainability Program’s executive plan and its contributions to boosting spending efficiency, increasing revenues, and strengthening planning capabilities. The program also prepares public finances for structural changes and economic reforms linked to Saudi Vision 2030, reinforcing the Kingdom’s financial position and economic resilience.

The cabinet praised the Kingdom’s top ranking among G20 countries in the Security Index, deeming it a reflection of its leading position in security, prosperity and stability.
