Trump warns ‘all hell will break out’ if Gaza hostages not released by his inauguration Published Tue, Jan 7 2025 Dan Mangan@_DanMangan https://www.cnbc.com/2025/01/07/trump-threatens-hell-if-gaza-hostages-not-released.html Key Points President-elect Donald Trump warned that “all hell will break out in the Middle East” if Hamas does not release the hostages it is holding in Gaza by the time he is inaugurated on Jan. 20. Steve Witkoff, Trump’s Middle East envoy, said, “We’re making a lot of progress” in the Biden administration’s negotiations in Doha, Qatar, to win the release of hostages seized by the terror group in its Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel. Hamas is standing by its demand that Israel fully end military operations against Gaza as part of any deal to release the hostages. U.S. President-elect Donald Trump gestures as he makes remarks at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, U.S. Jan. 7, 2025. Carlos Barria | Reuters President-elect Donald Trump warned Tuesday that “all hell will break out in the Middle East” if Hamas does not release the hostages it is holding in Gaza by the time he is inaugurated on Jan. 20. “And it will not be good for Hamas and it will not be good frankly for anyone,” Trump said at a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida. “We want to get back those hostages for Israel and for us,” Trump said. “You know, we do have people that are hostages being held,” he said “And I’ll just say it again, if this deal is not done with the people representing our nation, by the time I get to office, all hell is going to break out.” Trump did not specify what action he would take if the hostages were not released. Nearly 100 hostages are believed to remain in captivity in Gaza, with some of those people presumed to be dead. Hamas on Monday released a list with the names of 34 hostages that the group said it is willing to release in the first stage of a possible ceasefire agreement with Israel. Trump re-issued his warning as Steve Witkoff, his designated envoy to the Middle East, told reporters that there has been “a lot of progress” in negotiations in Doha, Qatar, to win the release of hostages seized during the terror group’s deadly Oct. 7, 2023, incursion into Israel. “I believe we’ve been on the verge of it,” said Witkoff, after Trump spotted him in the back of the room and called him up to the podium to speak. Witkoff said he expected to fly back to Doha on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. It was unclear what role Witkoff was playing in any talks, given that Trump does not take office for another two weeks, and Witkoff is not formally a U.S. government representative. Earlier Tuesday, Hamas said it was standing by its demand that Israel fully end military operations against Gaza as part of any deal to release the hostages. Israel, in turn, says the war will continue until the hostages are released and Hamas is dismantled, according to the Reuters news service. “I don’t want to say too much” about the status of the talks in Doha, Witkoff said. But, he added, “I’m really hopeful that by the inauguration we’ll have some really good things to announce on behalf of the president.” He credited Trump’s “reputation, the things that he has said” with “driving the negotiations.” “I think they heard him loud and clear, and to get done by the inaugural,” Witkoff said. “Hopefully it’ll all work out and we’ll save some lives,” he added.
Trump spent considerable time discussing Israel’s war in Gaza, a conflict that has claimed more than 45,885 Palestinian lives and prompted fears of grave human rights abuses. The president-elect called his nominee to be Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, up to the podium to give an update on negotiations. Witkoff, a real-estate investor with no foreign policy experience, had been part of recent ceasefire talks in the Middle East. LMAO
The Assad regime in Syria couldn't put up with Hamas either. It executed every single Hamas member it could get its hands on. Assad's regime executed dozens of Hamas members without trial, intelligence documents reveal Sources close to Hamas have confirmed at least 94 members were killed under Bashar al-Assad without being formally charged. https://www.newarab.com/news/dozens-hamas-members-executed-assads-syria-prisons Recent intelligence documents have revealed that dozens of leaders and members of the Palestinian group Hamas were executed without trial in Syria under the toppled regime of Bashar al-Assad. At least 94 Hamas affiliates were reportedly held without any formal charges or court proceedings, according to the pan-Arab Al-Quds Al-Arabi. Sources close to Hamas confirmed the executions, which were carried out in Syrian prisons, many of them under the direct orders of the regime, reports state. These intelligence reports were discovered after Assad's government was overthrown in early December, revealing ongoing operations to target anyone with ties to the Palestinian group. Despite a reconciliation between Hamas and the regime in 2022, the Syrian government continued to label Hamas as "traitorous" and ordered the arrest of individuals connected to the group. Turbulent relationship The relationship between Syria and Hamas has long been turbulent. Initially, Hamas maintained close ties with the Assad regime, with Damascus serving as a key base of operations for the group in the early 2000s. However, when the Syrian civil war erupted in 2011, Hamas distanced itself from Assad, publicly supporting opposition groups in the fight against the regime. This shift angered Damascus, which viewed the Palestinian organisation’s support for rebels as a betrayal. In response, Syrian security forces began cracking down on Hamas members, accusing them of undermining the stability of the state. A significant development in the reconciliation between Hamas and the Assad regime came in late 2022 when Hamas decided to renew relations with Damascus following mediation from Hezbollah’s then-Secretary General, Hassan Nasrallah. According to sources, Hamas submitted a list of detainees to Nasrallah, who had promised to press for their release with the highest levels of the Assad regime. However, Nasrallah’s involvement appeared to be ineffective. Sources claimed that Nasrallah discovered that all the names on the list had already been executed, leading him to withhold any information from Hamas for fear that the truth would derail the fragile reconciliation efforts. Despite these efforts, the relationship between Hamas and Assad remained strained, and the supposed reconciliation did not result in any significant changes on the ground. By October 2023, sources revealed that all communication between Hamas and the Assad regime had ceased. The intelligence documents now released show that, even after Hamas reconciled with the Assad regime in 2022, the targeted executions continued unabated. According to sources close to Hamas as cited in Arabic media, prominent figures like Mamoun Al-Jaloudi, a senior commander in Hamas' Al-Qassam Brigades, were among those executed. Damascus did not issue any condolences for the deaths of prominent Hamas leaders, including Ismail Haniyeh, Yahya Sinwar, and Saleh Al-Arouri, who were killed in Israeli strikes.
Live updatesLive updates, LIVE: Israel killed dozens of Palestinians in Gaza since dawn Mourners react during the funeral of Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes in Khan Younis, in the southern Gaza Strip, January 8, 2025 [Mohammed Salem/Reuters] By Edna Mohamed, Farah NajjarandBrian Osgood Published On 8 Jan 2025 At least 46 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza since dawn on Wednesday, with 31 of those killed in the north, according to medical sources speaking to Al Jazeera. US President-elect Donald Trump is demanding that Hamas release Israeli captives held in Gaza by the time he enters office, warning “all hell will break out” otherwise.
I have no clue how this will be resolved. I don't know how this cycle of violence will end. Other Western world governments are too afraid to comment due to fear of Trump's wrath of retaliation. I doubt Hamas will surrender or come to peace negotiations, if they do it would be temporary imo. It's kind of like committing your own suicide. Israel wants Palestinian land and they'll take it by hook or by crook, with UK and US assistance and other pro christian western governments.
