So Hezbollah claimed they checked the pagers -- not very well apparently. The terrorist organization was still handing them out in recent hours before the blasts. One Hezbollah militant had his new pager, new in the box, at home where it blew up. So inept. Now Hezbollah is the laughingstock of the Arab world -- being mocked in just about every media publication.

Hezbollah Handed Out Pagers 'Hours' Before Blasts - Even After Checks

Lebanon's Hezbollah was still handing its members new Gold Apollo branded pagers hours before thousands blew up this week, two security sources said, indicating the group was confident the devices were safe despite an ongoing sweep of electronic kit to identify threats.

One Hezbollah member received a new pager on Monday that exploded the next day while it was still in its box
, said one of the sources.

A pager given to a senior member just days earlier injured a subordinate when it detonated, the second source said, Reuters reported.

In an apparently coordinated attack the Gold Apollo branded devices detonated on Tuesday across Hezbollah's strongholds of south Lebanon, Beirut's suburbs and the eastern Bekaa valley.

On Wednesday, hundreds of Hezbollah walkie-talkies exploded. The consecutive attacks killed 37 people, including at least two children, and injured more than 3,000 people. The batteries of the walkie-talkies were laced with a highly explosive compound known as PETN, another Lebanese source familiar with the device's components told Reuters on Friday. Up to three grams of explosives hidden in the pagers had gone undetected for months by Hezbollah, Reuters reported earlier this week.

One of the security sources said it was very hard to detect the explosives "with any device or scanner." The source did not specify what type of scanners Hezbollah had run the pagers through.

Hezbollah examined the pagers after they were delivered to Lebanon, starting in 2022, including by travelling through airports with them to ensure they would not trigger alarms, two additional sources told Reuters. In total, Reuters spoke to six sources familiar with the details of the exploding devices for this story.

The sources did not specify the name of the airports where they conducted the tests.

Lebanon, Hezbollah and Western security sources say Israel was behind the attacks. Israel, which has since stepped up airstrikes on Lebanon, has neither denied or confirmed involvement.

Rather than a specific suspicion of the pagers, the checks had been part of a routine "sweep" of its equipment, including communications devices, to find any indications that they were laced with explosives or surveillance mechanisms, one of the security sources said. The attacks, and the distribution of the devices despite the routine sweep and checks for breaches, have struck at Hezbollah's reputation as the most formidable of Iran's allied 'Axis of Resistance' umbrella of anti-Israel irregular forces across the Middle East.

In a televised speech on Thursday, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said the attacks were "unprecedented in the history" of the group.

After the pagers detonated on Tuesday, Hezbollah suspected more of its devices may have been compromised, two of the security sources, as well as an intelligence source, told Reuters.

In response, it intensified the sweep of its communications systems, carrying out careful examinations of all devices. It also began investigating the supply chains through which the pagers were brought in, the two security sources said.

But the review had not been concluded by Wednesday afternoon, when the hand-held radios exploded.

Hezbollah believes that Israel opted to detonate the group's hand-held radios because it feared Hezbollah would soon find that the walkie-talkies were also rigged with explosives, one of the sources told Reuters.

The walkie-talkie explosions left 25 people dead and at least 650 injured, according to Lebanon's health ministry - a much higher fatality rate than the previous day's pager blasts, which killed 12 and wounded nearly 3,000.

That is because they carried a higher payload of explosives than the beepers, one of the security sources and the intelligence source said.

The group's probe into precisely where, when and how the devices were laced with explosives is ongoing, three of the sources said. Nasrallah later said the same in the speech on Thursday.

One of the security sources said Hezbollah had foiled previous Israeli operations targeting devices imported from abroad by the group - from its private landline telephones to ventilation units in the group's offices.

That includes suspected breaches in the past year.

"There are several electronic issues that we were able to discover - but not the pagers," the source said. "They tricked us, hats off to the enemy."

Not surprising. I can only assume that either one side or the other got to him (unlikely IMO), he went into hiding for his own good, or shortly he will turn up in Israel.

This is your reminder that Hamas also brutally terrorizes the Palestinian residents of Gaza. They need to be removed from power and eliminated as a militant and political entity.

How Hamas uses brutality to maintain power
Hamas uses fear and violence to maintain power in Gaza, abusing Palestinians and Israeli hostages.
These are some of the ways Hamas silences critics and puts civilians in danger.

All of America should be cheering Israel for eliminating this terrorist who was a leader in the bombing of the U.S. Embassy and Marine barracks in Beirut.

Who was Ibrahim Aqil, the Hezbollah commander with a $7m bounty on his head?
Head of Iran-backed militia’s special forces unit allegedly killed in Israeli airstrike in Beirut
    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/09/20/who-is-ibrahim-aqil-hezbollah-commander-7m-bounty/

In April 1983, a truck loaded with 2,000lb of explosives sped through the gate to the US embassy in Beirut and struck the building.

The blast turned the embassy into rubble and killed 63 people, including 52 American and Lebanese employees.

One of the men behind it was Ibrahim Aqil, a senior Hezbollah commander with a $7m US bounty on his head, who was allegedly killed in an Israeli strike in Beirut on Friday.

According to security sources, Aqil, also known as Tahsin, was the main target of the air strike on the city’s southern suburbs, considered a Hezbollah stronghold.

“The Israeli air strike killed Radwan Force commander Ibrahim Aqil, its armed force’s second-in-command after Fuad Shukr,” a source close to Hezbollah told AFP.

Hezbollah has not officially confirmed his death, but it said after the strike that it had hit an Israeli intelligence base it claimed was responsible for unspecified “assassinations”.

Aqil, who was believed to be in his 60s, became second-in-command to Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, following the killing of Fuad Shukr in an airstrike in Beirut in July.

The shadowy commander, whose only known photograph is decades old, is also the head of the Iran-backed militia’s special forces unit “Radwan”, which reportedly suffered heavy casualties during the two-day pager and walkie-talkie explosions.

Aqil also sits on the Jihad Council, Hezbollah’s highest military body. His alleged assassination indicates Israel is likely attempting to wipe out the senior Hezbollah leadership in fairly quick succession.

According to the US state department, he was a “principal member” of the Islamic Jihad Organization (IJU), a Lebanese Shia militia known for its activities in the 1980s during the Lebanese Civil War.

The terror group claimed responsibility for the bombings of the US Embassy in Beirut on April 18 1983. Among the 63 killed were eight CIA officers, turning it into the greatest loss of lives in the agency’s history.

Five months later on Oct 23 1983, the IJU carried out a second suicide bombing on the US Marine Corps barracks, killing 241 American personnel. Seconds later, a second bomber then killed 58 French paratroopers and six Lebanese civilians.

Aqil is believed to have helped mastermind both attacks. He is also accused of taking US and German hostages in Lebanon throughout the 1980s.

The strike on Friday afternoon was the third assassination in the Lebanese capital blamed on Israel since October 2023 when Hezbollah began cross-border clashes with Israel in support of Hamas over the Gaza war.

Israel announced this week it was shifting its war objectives to its northern border with Lebanon. Soon after, thousands of pagers, walkie-talkies and other devices belonging to Hezbollah simultaneously detonated in twin attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday, killing at least 37 and wounding over 3,000.

Nasrallah, the chief of Hezbollah, vowed on Thursday that Israel would face retribution for the blasts, while Yoav Gallant, the defence minister of Israel, declared Hezbollah will pay an “increasing price”.

UN condemns Lebanon device blasts as violation of international law
The United Nations has condemned the detonation of hand-held communication devices that killed 37 people in Lebanon.

“It is a war crime to commit violence intended to spread terror among civilians,” the UN’s High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, told the Security Council during an emergency session on Lebanon requested by Algeria.

He also repeated his call for an “independent, rigorous and transparent” investigation into the attack that injured nearly 3,000 people.

Beirut’s top diplomat, meanwhile, accused Israel of orchestrating what he called a “terror” attack

    ............................

Of course, according to the political troll who's spending his entire life within ET, the UN are wrong and Israel is right and are the victims.

15 Hezbollah terrorist commanders bite the dust. Good riddance.

I guess the "we don't trust our technology, let's meet in person" thing didn't work out well.

Strange thing, the West took on the Jewish religion, the Jews never forced or coerced them into it.
It has me puzzled why Western governments want to so fervently embrace a foreign ficticious god and brainwash their own citizens.

Perhaps its like sport, if you channel your citizens into distractions, they're easier to control and manipulate, keep them dumb and pliable.

  10. I love the whole myth of Judeo-Christian anything.
For 1000 fucking years, Christians hated the Jews.
    wtf are people talking about?
Jews do NOT believe in Jesus as a Messiah. They reject the idea.
JC is the KEY point in Christianity.
They totally, and completely disagree on the absolute critical point of the Christian religion.
"The entire basis of your religion is wrong" can hardly be called a shared value system.

The two religions do not share some set of principles.
How many Christians have a fucking dradle?
How many of 613 Mitzvot in the Old Testament does any Christian know?
Judeo-Christian anything is a complete myth made up after WWII for political reasons. It's hogwash.
    The only commonality is Monotheism.

I posted a vid above of Israeli Jews who said they should KILL Christians for heretical beliefs.
Orthodox Zionist Jews consider Christians as inferiors, just as they do Muslims. They just don't say it out loud because Israel is a puff of smoke without US backing.
