The hypocrisy, "We'll keep funding the wars (specifically Israel).....but stop funding the aid".
You know where this originates from.

White House backtracks on Biden saying Israeli invasion of Rafah is ‘red line’
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/2...saying-israeli-invasion-of-rafah-is-red-line/

During a White House press briefing, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan backtracks on President Biden's statement, in which he suggested that Israel would cross a red line if it entered Rafah without a clear and reliable plan to ensure the safety of Palestinian civilians and the continuation of aid.
    ..................
There you have it, knew 'Lying Biden' was talking crap about 'Red Lines', as is his habit, so predictable.

‘Death trap’: Israeli forces kill six in new attack on Gaza aid seekers
The deadly incident comes after an Israeli air strike on an UNRWA-run aid centre kills at least five people in Rafah.

    https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/3/14/death-trap-israeli-forces-kill-six-aid-seekers-in-gaza-city

Israeli forces have shot dead at least six Palestinians and wounded 83 in Gaza City as they were waiting for food and humanitarian supplies at the Kuwait Roundabout, an area where large groups of people gather for arriving aid trucks.

The attack on Thursday took place hours after at least five people were killed by an Israeli air strike on a food distribution centre in Rafah, southern Gaza, run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which is the main humanitarian agency in Gaza.

There has been an uptick in fatal assaults by Israeli troops on crowds of starving civilians lining up for aid in recent weeks. On Monday night, Israeli forces killed 11 people waiting for food aid at the same roundabout.

Reporting from Rafah, Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud said seeking aid has become “really dangerous” in the enclave, adding that “the Kuwaiti Roundabout is now known as a death trap”.

“We heard from a hungry and largely traumatised population stranded in the Gaza Strip asking what is the purpose of getting those aid trucks into Gaza and its northern area if they’re getting shot at,” he said.

“[The Israeli aggression] also endangers the work of aid workers on the ground,” he added.

The Kuwait Roundabout is between the central area of the Gaza Strip and Gaza City, linking northern Gaza to the south.

At least 400 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on aid deliveries.

    ‘Forbidden’
Sami Abu Salim, an UNRWA employee, told Al Jazeera that he felt frustrated over the attack as the employees of the aid centre and warehouse in the eastern part of Rafah have been working around the clock to provide aid to displaced Palestinians.

“This [attacking an aid centre] is forbidden. We are an international institution,” Abu Salim said. “We take all of this [aid] to the elderly and the children.”

The facility in Rafah is one of the last operating food distribution centres in Gaza, and the UNRWA is calling for an independent inquiry into repeated Israeli attacks on the UN agency.

The UNRWA spokeswoman Juliette Touma told Al Jazeera on Thursday that the Israeli strike caused minimal damage to the supplies, adding that the agency was still distributing aid from the facility after the raid, which killed one of its workers and injured 22 others.

UN facilities must be protected at all times as mandated by international law, Touma stressed.

“Too many times in this war have our facilities and personnel become a target,” she added. At least 165 staff of the UNRWA have been killed in Gaza since October 7 and more than 150 facilities hit, according to the agency.

Touma said the UNRWA shares the coordinates of its facilities and activities every day with all warring parties, including Israel, and that the location of the Rafah warehouse had been included in a list shared a day before it was attacked.

    ‘Engineered starvation’
Rights groups say that Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war against Palestinians.

Agnes Callamard, the secretary-general of Amnesty International, slammed the global community for pretending the crisis in Gaza was of a humanitarian nature and not one engineered by Israel.

“While the international community is busy pretending Gaza is a humanitarian crisis, Israel continues to violate international law in total impunity,” she said in a post on X, referencing Israel’s attack on the UN food centre in Rafah.

“Humanitarian assistance air drop and a Gaza aid port won’t address these violations. And they won’t address engineered starvation,” she added.

The UNRWA has said Israeli authorities have not allowed it to deliver supplies to the north of the Strip since January 23.

Israel, which controls Gaza’s border crossings, has opened just one entry point into the enclave since the start of the war and imposed “endless checking procedures” for trucks to pass through, UN agencies say.

Since February 9, the average number of trucks that entered Gaza daily was about 55, compared with 500 that used to enter before the start of the conflict, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The UN has said at least half a million, or one in four people in Gaza, face famine as it highlighted the problem of getting desperately needed humanitarian relief into Gaza amid Israeli restrictions.

A new report by humanitarian group Refugees International said that Israel has generated “famine-like conditions” in the Gaza Strip.

The group’s research in Egypt, Jordan and Israel revealed that Tel Aviv “consistently and groundlessly impeded aid operations within Gaza, blocked legitimate relief operations and resisted implementing measures that would genuinely enhance the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza”.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Thursday that at least 31,341 Palestinians have been killed and 73,134 wounded by Israeli attacks since October 7.

In the past 24 hours, Israeli attacks have killed 69 Palestinians in Gaza, the ministry said.

This statement from Schumer reflects the points I have regularly made about the two step process towards peace. The first step is the elimination of Hamas as a governing and militant entity in Gaza. The second step is a two-state peace solution.

Netanyahu and his right-wing government does not support the second step of a two-state solution focused on long-term peace.

While Schumer's declaration is interesting -- and hopefully people in Israel pay heed -- the practical reality is that his words do not directly mean much in terms of directing U.S. policy towards the conflict. The overall reality is that the people of Israel need to vote Netanyahu out of office and put a more moderate government in place to move towards a two-state solution.

Additional noting that Schumer also called out Hamas, Palestinian supporters of Hamas, right-wing Israelis, and the Palestinian Authority as obstacles to peace.

Schumer calls for new Israeli leader to replace Netanyahu in Senate floor speech
The majority leader said the only towards a two-state solution is to oust Netanyahu, saying he has 'lost his way'
    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/sc...r-to-replace-netanyahu-in-senate-floor-speech

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has called on Israel to elect a new prime minister to replace Benjamin Netanyahu in order to move towards a lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians in the form of a two-state solution.

In what was billed as a major speech on a two-state solution, Schumer said on the Senate floor on Thursday that Netanyahu was one of four obstacles to this solution.

The majority leader said he believed, "Prime Minister Netanyahu has lost his way by allowing his political survival to take the precedence over the best interests of Israel."

Along with Netanyahu, Schumer listed "Hamas, and the Palestinians who support and tolerate their evil ways, radical, right-wing Israelis in government and society, [and] Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas" as the other obstacles.

According to Schumer, who is Jewish, Israeli elections are "the only way to allow for a healthy and open decision-making process about the future of Israel." He added that he believed a majority of Israelis also recognize a need for change in their government.

In his reasoning for calling on elections to potentially replace Netanyahu, Schumer explained: "He has put himself in coalition with far-right extremists like Ministers Smotrich and Ben-Gvir, and as a result, he has been too willing to tolerate the civilian toll in Gaza, which is pushing support for Israel worldwide to historic lows."

Schumer emphasized that Israel will not be able to overcome such a poor public image. "Israel cannot survive if it becomes a pariah," he said.

After Schumer’s speech, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R–Ky., took to the floor and addressed the remarks of his Democratic colleague, but did not call him out by name.

"The Jewish state of Israel deserves an ally that acts like one," he said, condemning the call for new Israeli elections as "unprecedented."

"Israel's unity, government and security cabinet deserve the deference befitting a sovereign democratic country."

The Kentucky Republican added that "foreign observers" who aren’t able to recognize these important distinctions should not give their own prescriptions. McConnell additionally claimed the Democratic Party’s issue is not with Netanyahu, but with the state of Israel itself.

As recently as January, Netanyahu rejected the prospect of two states, claiming, "I will not compromise on full Israeli security control over all the territory west of Jordan – and this is contrary to a Palestinian state."

The Palestinian Authority has also reiterated its desire for the territories of Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, with Jerusalem as the capital.

Israel's US ambassador slams Schumer's 'unhelpful' anti-Netanyahu speech: 'Israel is a sovereign democracy'
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called for new elections in Israel amid bombardment of Gaza

Schumer shreds Israeli prime minister in lengthy floor speech

Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael Herzog charged that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's leadership is "unhelpful" as the Jewish state continues its war against Hamas in response to the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks that left over 1,200 dead and hundreds more taken hostage.

"Israel is a sovereign democracy. It is unhelpful, all the more so as Israel is at war against the genocidal terror organization Hamas, to comment on the domestic political scene of a democratic ally. It is counterproductive to our common goals," Herzog wrote on X.

US Imposes Sanctions on Israeli Settler West Bank Outposts
    [IMG]

The US imposed sanctions on two Israeli outposts in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, the latest move against settlement activity it says is an obstacle to peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
The US Treasury Department added two entities, Moshes Farm and Zvis Farm, as well as three Israeli nationals, to its list of sanctioned entities, according to the Office of Foreign Assets Control's website.
Axios reported late on Wednesday, citing three US officials, that the outposts would be targeted with sanctions because they were used as a base for attacks on Palestinians by settlers deemed to be extremist.

The administration in February imposed sanctions on four Israeli men it accused of being involved in settler violence in the West Bank, signaling growing US displeasure with the policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The administration said at the time that Israel's expansion of settlements in the West Bank was inconsistent with international law.
Israel has stepped up raids in the West Bank since the Gaza war began in October. United Nations' records show at least 358 people in the Palestinian territory have been killed since Oct. 7, a quarter of them children.

State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement Thursday that “there is no justification for extremist violence against civilians or forcing families from their homes, whatever their national origin, ethnicity, race, or religion.”

Currently, nine people and their properties have been sanctioned under the new executive order targeting West Bank settlers according to Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control database.
