    Time for some philosophy...

Years ago, I was doing some computer work for a friend of a friend, down in Austin. He had for the time, a really advanced rig - a satellite dish on the roof giving him real-time feed on markets, and a semi-graphical display of the data with various indicators. I was setting up a network so he could access the data from both his office and his partner's office, and via modem from his home.

I noticed he had a printer in his waiting area clicking away producing DJ news reports, and I asked if he wanted to duplicate the newsfeed and either print it or just display it in the offices... he laughed and told me that by the time the news hit that printer, it had already affected the price (he traded exclusively gold contracts) and was therefore totally worthless to him. I asked him why he had it at all, and he said it made his clients happy to see it plus he could use it to explain briefly to them what was going on.

But wasn't the news necessary to deduce the logic of the price changes?

He told me it has nothing to do with logic - it's people, and so it's about emotions and nothing else. If you don't understand the emotions of the people in your market, you won't be able to do diddly squat. Logic is for after-the-fact explanation, for people who don't know any better.

    Still waiting for some action...

Did you look at that last chart? It did bounce, didn't it?

    Discussion:

I ignored my own comment, from the first msg or two... "down in the mornings and up in the afternoons..." Duhhhh...

But, what the hey, +400 isn't a bad day at all, and when I get to the 10-contract stage, that extra decimal point will look pretty bueno. Now, let's see if we can get some of that back (or lose some more)...

    Trade progress:

1500 Hits the BE, stop is now at 129525, +025... mejor que nada...

1507 Hits 129700, I manually move stop to 129600, +100 - it's a little late in the day to lose that extra little bit.

    1509 I bail at 129700

Maybe it'll go on up, but I'm happy here...

    Trade summary:

    1438 -129500
    1509 +129700

    Result +200

Just got back from Open Mike night at the Blues... I've been trying to get up the nerve to climb up on stage, but I gotta have some backup... my #4 son, who is a hell of a bass player, offered to do it, so we'll get together in the next few days and come up with a little three or four song set and maybe be ready next week... I'm thinking "Framed", "Spider John", "Copperhead Road", and "Pussy Whipped Again"... I guess I'm just a traditional kinda guy.

Anyway, just put the eyeball on the YASPEM situation, and - pending bizarrity overnight - my BoB lines are

    AO 130450
    AI 130100
    PP 129750
    BI 129400
    BO 129050

As I write this, Globex is bouncing along around 129650 with an occasional 200 contract minutes, but mostly pretty quiet.
