There’s a saying among LEOs, you can make a cop out of a corrections officer but you can’t make a corrections officer out of a cop.

Many times people jump into something without knowing jack from Jill and this is very much what is going on with this Epstein mess. People need to look at our corrections system as a whole and within the scope of our approach to criminal justice.

The entire system is underfunded and overburdened. This is why we have COs working 16 hour days and falling asleep in an overcrowded prison. Think about that.

We don’t understand the toll or burden we put on people.

I knew what happened with Epstein immediately because it’s the same old song all around this country.

It’s the same thing with guns. We don’t understand the burden and stress we put on street cops. Just pulling someone over for an expired plate could be the last thing you do. Imagine the stress of that as you pull over 10-15 vehicles a day.

And we wonder why LEOs have high suicide rates and propensity to violence.

  5. Oh pooh.

High profile wall street criminals, terrorists, mobsters etc have been successfully detained and preserved for trial- under enormous scrutiny- at the MCC for years.

Yes the system is overburdened but the job of the prison administration is to prioritize under such circumstances and if you cannot bring focus and oversight to one of/the highest priority inmates in your custody, then you need to be removed, because a more competent administration could, even though systemic problems exist. Thus Barr has removed him/her and there is MORE TO COME.

I’m not against corrective action for the COs and the Warden and everyone else in the chain of command.

But am I shocked this happened or do I believe it was a conspiracy? Hell no because I understand the system.

All of these people who have never been anywhere near a real life situation where things are actually snafu think these things cannot happen and it must be some deep state plot should not be spreading wild rumors. They are in fact morons. And shame on you if you run with morons.

The system failed and if anyone actually cared about justice - true justice - then we would start working for a system that doesn’t fail when we seek to prosecute real criminals. But because we are so focused on prosecuting crimes that are more poverty related, instead of addressing poverty, the system is what you see.

And let more come! We need to have this conversation in public and openly.

  7. If you had ever been anywhere near any real life situations you would know that corruption is part of the system. You make it sound as though anyone who is suspicious of their being bad actors and bad motives somehow does not understand that this is all just a matter of bureacratic bungling or not enough resources. Those issues are not separable.

Same with the healthcare system or government contracting etc, etc. Your binary mind tries to sort things into either "conspiracy" or "system problems". But anyone who has been around knows that there both systemic resource and management issues AND corrupt players in any and all of those fields.

I dont buy into some of the conspiracy theories but then again, NO ONE HAS BEEN EXONERATED EITHER. We are early in the investigation.

To be fair, if I was cooking up a conspiracy, I could cook up a story of how the guards were "overworked or tired".

Hell, if I had the reach, I'd engineer it so the guards did work overtime the days of the "hit" in anticipation of a need for a fall guy.

Nah. We are late in the investigation. It’s all already leaked. Epstein did it with a bed sheet while the guards slept. Happens 50 times a day all across America.

  10. Yup. And the IG and others will want to know why required protections and procedures were not followed with a high-value defendant/witness if there was that known risk.

We got the fact that it is all just goes with turf so what's the big deal in your view.
