feels like things are getting progressively worse, since that yahoo chick became CEO.
more useless s**t all over every single page,f** animation(like as we are in a kindergarten or something)-they doing everything they can to slowdown the respond time. i'm sitting on fios, but it feels like we are moving backwards at full speed. every time you click on simple summary page for a ticker-CPU usage spikes up. wtf they where thinking with all this redesign nonsense- i have no idea.
i've been with yahoo practically since day one,but i'm getting more and more disappointed each and every day. their email is same-all this new stuff is just make it ....let just say BAD. google is not doing any better with all those forced account upgrades and totally not user friendly online services such as google+
wtf is wrong with people? feels like they are purposely screwing us,forcing to buy more powerful computers and all that crap.

Tell us how you really feel.

It is getting worse. Is there a worthy replacement to Yahoo Finance though? I haven't been able to find anything, but maybe I'm not looking hard enough.

Time for pay for a service. If you really trade or have any intention of trading you should avoid "free" sources because you will end up spending your valuable time trying to work around service failures/problems with no timely support available to assist you. How much do you value your time? What trade opportunities are you missing out on because you wanted to save chump change?

Keeping costs down is a part of my strategy and if something is free and works, I use it.

+1 on costs. i said it many times here-trading is a business and as a business owner-it is my goal to keep the cost down.
jharmon-show me a service that reports all news from all sources(including fools, seeking alpha ,fly and so on) on same page. press releases, earnings, news-everything.
it does not exists. regardless to how much it would or should cost.
again-as i said before-i'm using yahoo for a cross reference on EOD data. are you saying that it would be good idea to go out and find another data provider with API support(which typically cost a lot) and spend a wast amount of time (and money)to write yet another application just to compare two pieces of data at EOD?
if you trade futures-yahoo is probably useless for you,but if you trades stocks-the information yahoo finance provide is essential. most importantly- it's accurate and free

look..it's not exactly a free lunch or get something for nothing..if i'm looking for simple EOD data- i have to write my own application. it's not provided by yahoo for me.if one is looking for some let say fundamental data on yahoo pages-there will be some advertizement here and there(for which yahoo get paid). so-once again-it's not something for nothing(IMO)

what about free tv that you can get via rabbit ears antenna? is it free for nothing?

Just to chime in, I am using a a small script to download end-of-day data from Yahoo finance. Very reliable until last week.

If I call the script on a symbol and then call it again (same symbol), I will end up with different results. An example this weekend was the data for Friday (2-14) would be missing from some calls, but show for others. Again same stock symbol.

However if I go directly to the yahoo finance page and click historical data and then download the csv table, the results are consistent every time.

I am thinking Yahoo might be checking the referrer or even using a cookie.
