Could someone give me a quick explanation of the advantages of one of these over the other, using comparable specs. Just wondering which would be more useful for trading.
    Thanks

  3. Xeon is usally better for servers. If you are putting more than 1 processor in your system - you have to go with the Xeon because they will work together.

From Intel - They say A QUAD core naturally is TWICE as fast as any DUAL core processor and it will absolutely make your entire system much faster. Th new i7 processor, with 8 processing threads vs standard Quad Core (4 processing threads) is the new standard.

See this page on this site for some good info - http://www.naplestech.com/shopcart/quad_pcr_demo.htm

Syprik is right - i7 920 is best bang right now - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115202

and for a little more the i7-940 is faster. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115201
