Ah, but there is more..... Eurex charts now not updating, after, as if by magic, I am able to start X_Trader. And, wait, there is more still. FDAX T&S shows an endless stream of 24 sized OTC trades only. Not a single non-OTC trade as far as the eye can see. My, this is such a lot of fun....
I've read the thread and I'll try to explain the prior recommendation differently. Anything that's causing you this much problem, its a waste of your time & energy to continue "playing" with it when you can use that exact same effort elsewhere that's more productive and keeps you more positive. Yet, if you continue using something that's such a problem for you...its no longer their fault. Its yours because nobody is forcing you to continue using it. In trading terms...its time to cut your loss because time is money for traders.
@ wrbtrader, But, but.... this is so much fun, why stop now? Don't worry, none of this is affecting my trading nor my general well being. Quite the opposite, really. And wouldn't it be a real shame, if nobody documented TT's tireless and endless incompetencies relating to this silly platform? Indeed, if TT were to be keeping bug reports (I doubt it very much, as given the number of bugs in this s/w, they would be best served to start again, from scratch), then this thread might actually serve as a useful document beyond our general bemusement and entertainment.
With whom are you dealing with at TT? I haven't encountered problems like this and my nephew, who admins at the FCM through which I get my XTrader, is very clear about noting TT maintains great documentation on bug reports and admins can pull tickets up very easily for reference. Personally, I rarely trade Eurex and don't look at it much but when I have the charts have been fine. I wonder if your issues are not more related to the administration at your FCM. What FCM do you use?
I have had clients have problems in the past with the charting features on both CTS-4 and X-Study. It turned out that the price servers re-set themselves daily in concert with the exchanges, and that historical information ( which is quite helpful for charting ) was not all that helpful at least in the past. I hope that CTS and TT have worked to improve that functionality. Those platforms were never originally designed for charting. In terms of SIM trading, I have had some clients do it briefly but in short order they typically went live. I'll ask them if they had similar issues and post if I have anything meaningful to contribute.
A new week and, yes, you guessed right, I just had to give X_Trader Pro in SIM a spin and, no luck. None of the exchanges are available at all..... Well, let's try again tomorrow. Can't wait to see what TT have in store for us then....
If you are unhappy as a client of TT use one of the other software vendors you mentioned (you will save a ton of money, why pay 1200-1500 per month if you like sierra for $50?), if you are just using a demo then you clearly are not a match and you are wasting your time. There are several changes you must make to your OS if you are using Windows 7, did you make them? If not, they are 1. Disable the User Account Control setting to never notify. 2. Disable and stop the Base Filtering Engine 3. Disable and computer browser service. 4. Download and install the TCP Loopback Latency Hotfix. all of the above can be googled if you have trouble. If you are as unhappy as you sound look to CTS, it is a bit more affordable and you might like it more.
You sound like a great client for a $18 a month software package like sierracharts. Which is great. TT X-trader with it's professional spreader technology is nothing for you. I'm glad they just mess up the sim part of their program, the SIM isn't intended to simulate a complete live system. TT X-trader and the spreader is one of the best out there. There's a reason why big professional traders use it. About my reading/writing capabilities. You might be right. English is my 4th language. I'm sorry.
LOL. Same experience here. I have been on X Trader pro for 1 month. This Platform is so crappy that...I actually make more money...LOL My favorite "features" : - The impossibility to get spread positions displayed overnight on MD trader. I love to check my outright positions every morning to figure out what spreads I have on. Not to mention in consequence the absence of "entry level" and current P§L if your spread position wasn't initiated today. -If you want to access charts others than ES, CL and ZC front month( just kidding but not that much), you have to call your broker with a list of the 922 calendar spreads charts you want to be activated. Nobody ever find the courage to do that and subscribe to a charting package on top of that piece of art Platform. -"alert when MD trader is about to recenter": an useful feature...if it was working. -"Calculate implied prices instead of exchange implieds"...Great but fail again. To get better datas, I use a professional Platform called TWS. Yes, IB free software has better datas than X Trader pro... I constantly open calendar spreads booktrader during the day to see if there is no size missing on X trader.
To be fair, X Trader pro is not that bad. In fact, the advanced features are great( Autospreader, Autotrader, Algo design lab...), it is just the basic stuff that sucks. Being able to see charts of every product you want shouldn't be that complicated especially for a 1K+ Platform.
