Apparently there were 50+ assassination attempts on Hitler. Hard to imagine he could have been so lucky as to avoid all.
German intelligence and Gestapo was first rate, not to mention "worship" of the Fueher. Furthermore it took an assault on two fronts to do what insiders could not achieve.
I don't have a problem with the citizens arming themselves for self defense against criminals, or a potential government tyrant, but it would be much more messy than people think, should it come to that. I'm just trying to point out that a couple AR's ain't the be all and end all of self defense. Does a well armed population get the g-mans attention? Yes, and that is a good thing. I'm not so sure a tyrannical government would have much luck getting the military to fire upon citizens in the street. Cops on the other hand would have no problem doing it, which is why I am much more alarmed with the militarization of our local police forces than any platoon of Marines marching down the street.
Yes, I agree. Every government agency, from the police to the local sewer department seem to have their own SWAT teams, all charged up and rarin' to go. Very frightening, but I guess that's the idea.
That's why he had the SS. Obama indicated he wanted something like the SS in his 2008 speeches but I think he can't find a path to make that happen - yet.
No matter what you think of their politics the SS (combat divisions )were badasses and they took an oath to hitler himself. IMHO they were the best trained large units ever.
If you are so distrustful of our government, how do you expect them to pass a law mandating the populace be armed against them?
