Wyckoff's Monster

  1. This actually took me a second - lol. When I started I thought the title summed up a plan that was chopped up bits and pieces sewn together - not unlike Frankenstein's monster. Maybe I should ask the mods to change to title to something like "another SLA lemming"?

I like Wyckoff Monster myself. :) All this did originate with him, after all.

  3. It makes my ego feel good so I'll pass on that title change - although it does have a nice ring. You're more than welcome to the title.

  4. I'm a quote guy. I have a wall in my trading room with quotes I have collected. I've kept quotes since I was in high school. I think that often we see ourselves better through the lens of other people's words.

On the top of my wall is the quote that I love the most. It's by Tom Waits. He says "the way you do anything is the way you do everything". it sounds cute but so what? For some reason it makes me think of a martial arts student. A aspiring martial artist goes and learns from a master. Through hours of practice the student hones his skills. More important the student hones his senses. He learns to find his center and stay in the moment.

If when this student leaves class he puts his training on pause then he will likely never become a master. He might only be in school for a hour or two a day but he has the entire day to train. He can try to stay in the moment and operate from his center at all times. He can walk and sit and breath like a martial artist regardless of what he is doing. He can apply the same level of focus to his school work or to conversations with friends as he does to practice with the master. This is all practice.

If anyone has a favorite quote they want to share I'd love to hear them.

Here are a couple of my favorites:

"If doubt seems to hinder you while you're working, it's because you either haven't decided what to do yet, or you're letting yourself reconsider your decision while you're supposed to be carrying it out." - David Cain

“Being disciplined in the past isn’t good enough: on each and every trade you must be disciplined. Forever. Like a drunk in a program you can NEVER slip off the wagon.” - Pa(b)st Prime

Not trading related, but these two I quite like.

"Do not get upset with people or situations, both are powerless without your reaction."

"As I look back on my life, I realize that every time I thought I was being REJECTED from something good, I was actually being RE-DIRECTED to something better."

I once had a high school football coach tell our team. Gentleman, there is no way in hell you're going to win this game!. Another sports quote is your going to do this drill not until you get it right but until you can't get it wrong! Could be trading related.
