Great that you made a friend with a "real deal" but not all "real deals" are rude and disrespectful albeit unknowingly and in fact many real "real deal"'s are actually very humble and polite. And just because somebody is rude doesn't mean that he is the "real deal". Majority of the time they put that on as an act to hide desperately the fact that they are actually nothing especially when they relentlessly stalk and attack people who actually try to "pick their brain" to challenge them and engage in conversation with them. "Real deals" are never afraid of people challenging them. Either way don't really care, like I said, I am here to 1) socialize and 2) learn and help others when I can. I welcome debates but if you stalk me and attack me, I put you on Ignore and block you and that's that. I will suffer the consequences of "losing bigly" for missing out on being a friend with a "dragon" LOL But in life, I believe in touting your own horn instead of blindly following others especially when they have nothing to offer. But to each his own!
Honestly, I think the best for ET would be to remove the entire block function and rather have the moderators ban posters who don’t behave. Never understood why people need to block other users. Particularly when so many who do so still log out and read the posts of those they proudly told everyone they ignored.
Now now.... lets not tag-team The-Imp. The only trader in the world that has the option to chose between "open limit orders" and "open market orders".
And I personally feel, if someone puts someone on ignore... they should keep them there. prediction: Watch Zdreg squirm and whine as he joins a VERY small list. Like 3 in 10 years.
I think it's more like just reading the forum before deciding to log into the forum to reply to any interesting thread. Yet, I am sure a small percentage are trolling other members by looking (reading) their message posts to reply/respond to. Further, part of the problem is that trolling is allowed even when a member names the other member in his trolling messages. In contrast, more serious stuff (e.g. racist message posting / consistently targeting an ethnic group) is not tolerated...it falls under the category of what you refer to as misbehaving. The issue for me is that the ignore/block function has glitches that are easily exploited by problematic members. Regardless, I am sure Baron and the moderators do not want to spend more time policing (moderating) the forum after getting rid of the block function because there are too many banned members re-joining with a new username that has the goal to cause more chaos. wrbtrader
Yeah that would have increased the workload of the mods by like 1000fold. LOL And @Baron would have to hire like an army of mods just to deal with a few individuals here and even so, we would still end up reading crap from the members that we don't really want to deal with because they read what we wrote and responded to them before the mod can do anything. The block function is the only mechanism that we have to deal with undesirable trolls. They don't get to read what we wrote and are not able to respond and if they want to find out what we wrote, they will have to go through the inconvenience of logging off or go use another device to read what we wrote and they still won't be able to respond. It's kinda of a way to put them in a "time out" sorta speaking. And in the meantime we can still carry on having meaningful conversations or exchanges with others.
I don’t see how it would increase the need for moderation. I have zero people on my ignore list. I just scroll past posts that are of no interest and if someone disagrees with me or even insults me I don’t see why I need to block that individual or get angry. People are such snowflakes these days.
