Many, including myself, here in the feedback have documented that glitch with images too of how people are navigating around the "last message post icon" in a thread as a way around the "block/ignore". In fact, the person that told me about it, I have him on block and he decided to "brag about" how he was navigating around my block/ignore simply waiting for me to reply in a thread while my message post was the "last message in the thread" so that he can then click on the Reply read and quote my entire message. The fact that these complaints about that blank post or last message post still have the "reply" makes no sense whatsoever. Worst, I don't believe I've seen a message posted by ET management acknowledging they're aware of that glitch and plan to fix it. Regardless, if I'm aware someone I've block/ignore is posting in a thread that I'm participating...I will post a quick music video in a message post after my prior message to prevent the block person from responding to any messages I care about. The ones that then traverse from a troll to being a dickhead troll are the ones that reply/quote you in your own thread that you started...they do it too by utilizing that exact same glitch. A troll & dickhead troll is bad but an ignorant dumbass troll is the worst due to the fact that they respond to your messages by quoting you with a message that has nothing to do with the thread topic of your own thread outside of the Chit Chat/Political threads. They're trying to harass you in the trading threads because they can't handle something you've stated in the Chit Chat/Political threads. Those that do the above in the trading threads outside of the Chit Chat/Political thread should be banned. wrbtrader
i think we would not need a block at all if people were required to register with real identities. there is no accountability for raiders who come and disparages others and disappear. another idea is going to a fee which would drop users but eliminate most all trash.
I feel the need to respond. I posted (post 80) here to address exactly that (history). No point in summarizing when it's all on page 1 of this thread. @smalldik liked your post and he's guilty of blocking -> unblocking -> replying -> blocking as recently as the arb-thread that was closed. I don't see the downside of implementing a timer on the block/ignore function. You (OP) place a user on ignore or full block, you cannot undo it for a fixed amount of time. Say, 30 days. Once the 30 days has passed, the users drop off the block list automatically, and the OP can decide to block them again for another 30 days if their behavior has not changed. Conceptually it seems simple, but not sure how hard that is to code into the forum software.
